Basics first I suppose. For the non techies out there, this device is used to connect up to four USB devices to your P.C., such as digital cameras. If like me you only have two USB ports on the back of your pc then this little device is a good investment for you. It is external, so there is no need to take the sides off of your computer and start mucking about inside.
The box contents are as follows.
USB Hub
USB Cable
Velcro Tape
Protective Carry Case
Multi Language User's Manual.
The hub is a small black unit with single connecting point on the back and four USB ports on the front for your USB peripheral such as digital cameras and MP3 players. A really big well done for Ciao for not putting a picture up, as I did provide the web address so that they could. The dimensions are 75mm long, 50mm wide and 25mm high.
It really is absolute simplicity to use. Simply plug the supplied lead into one of your USB ports and then plug the other end into the back of the unit. The green power light should come on, and if it does then that is it, sorted. If it doesnt then it is probable that there is something wrong with the unit, although there is a trouble shooting guide in the manual.
There is a socket on the back for an external power lead. I am assuming that this is in case you wish to have several peripherals running at the same time, as the unit will only have a limited power output, but no information is actually given as to where to obtain this power source.
The instruction manual is quite a chunky leaflet, and as usual, there is only a tiny section of English. However, that said, you shouldn't actually need the instructions as it really is foolproof to install.
I put off buying a four port internal hub a few months ago because I was put off by the cost. For the last few weeks I have been swapping cables, but this got a little tedious. A visit to my local Tesco rewarded me with this little hassle saver for under £9. If you have a small number of USB sockets on your P.C. then I would recommend this item.
