Advantages: reliable, USB2, vista compat, 42 different formats, lively lighty up bits Disadvantages: bit boring to look at
me with all the cardreaders I have used.
The case is a brushed aluminum/steel finish and feels very solid. It measures about two by three inches. Although it is USB 2 it will work on USB 1.1 as well.
It comes with velcro tabs/tape so you can attach it to the side of your computer but I'd advise against it as you don't really get the chance to use both sides. Just stick it on top of a modem or something and it'll sit happily shining its bright blue light until you need it.
I've used it with XD cards, Compact Flash cards, SD and Mini SD cards and it has behaved impeccably throughout. I just bought a far sexier looking one this morning which boasts reading 55 (yes 55!) different card types and had a mirrored case (am I sucker for a shiny toy or what?) but still prefer the old faithful.
I'm happy with this device.... it might ...
Advantages: Takes 18 different cards Disadvantages: Possible problem recognising reader when online
easily which certainly comes in handy.
It is also worth mentioning that this cardreader is backwards compatible unlike some readers with USB 1.1. I have personally no need for this though it might be handy to know.
This cardreader works on Microsoft Windows 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP and is also Mac OS 9 and X compatible and when loading up the cardreader onto the computer is has a handy plug in and play feature.

PLUG IN AND PLAY
**********************
On first loading the cardreader onto my computer I found it extremely easy that even my computer beginner mum would be able to do (and trust me that is saying something!). I did not even have to do a thing as the simple plug in and play installed the driver software for me automatically, not freezing my computer and some device installations do. It only took about 30 ...
Advantages: Good range, reliable Disadvantages: Short antenna cable + strange connection between card + antenna
preferences.
One downside to the setup is that the connection from the antenna to the card is quite sloppy, it doesn't click or lock into place so the antenna cable can sometimes come out the back of the PC but it isn't a regular occurance. Also the cable is quite short so you can't really have the reciever placed on top of that bookshelf or wardrobe to maximize signal which was a disappointment. However, the reciever looks quite snazzy on my desk with it's 3 recievers so I don't mind.
An upside to going with this card is that you can link them to the N1 routers which will provide you with speeds of up to 300mbps which surpasses the standard 54mbps. However, I have never been able to test this as I have been stuck with an old BT hub.
Inall, I would recommend this card if you need to give your desktop wireless cabapilities. It is reliable ...
