Advantages Nice and big

Disadvantages None

Marshmallow! Real milk chocolate! Biscuit!
How about that for a luxury combination!

Now, “What IS she talking about?” I can hear you saying.
“Marshmallow is a soft spongy sweet; chocolate is that lovely
brown stuff in a bar, made with a glass and a half of milk!;
and biscuit is a crunchy, usually round thing you eat with a cup
of tea.” “But a combination??”
Have you worked out what it is yet?
No?
O.K. Do you like tea cakes?
No, not the big round ones with sultanas in, which you buy in
a bakery, but the little round ones which are covered in chocolate.
Maybe they are not such a fashionable thing to eat these days,
but I think they are a delicious little snack food.
It’s TUNNOCK’S TEA CAKES.
You will find these in most supermarkets, in the section for
packets of small bars such as Penguins and kit-kats. There may
be another brand of tea cakes on the shelf too, (such as Burtons),
but when you compare the two brands, Tunnocks wins. The other
brand may be perhaps a little cheaper, and possibly have ten or
twelve in the pack, but look at the size of them. The cheaper ones
are not very big, and could probably be consumed in one mouthful.
The Tunnocks tea cakes are much bigger, and you need at least
4 or 5 bites to eat and enjoy them.

Tunnocks tea cakes come in a yellow box with red writing on it.
There is a clear window on the box top, so that you can see the
6 lovely plump tea cakes,(measuring 2” diameter and 1.1/2” in depth), wrapped in a striped red and silver wrapper. On the middle of the
wrapper is a star shape, surrounded with a circle of words
“TUNNOCK’S MILK CHOCOLATE MALLOW”. Then there is an
outer ring of words stating the Ingredients and part of their address.
I will list these ingredients later.
The box tells you that TUNNOCK’S was established in 1890,
still a family business, and it contains 6 milk chocolate tea cakes.
There is a picture of a wrapped tea cake on each of the long sides of
the box.
On the base of the box, there is a picture of the founder Tom Tunnock
outside his baker’s shop.(Taken in 1897).
Ingredients and Nutritional Information is also listed in boxes on the base.
Then there is a lot of gobbledegook (possibly Chinese or similar);
then the address of Tunnocks.

At the supermarket, make sure you buy enough boxes to last the week
(so you won’t get withdrawal symptoms!!)
When you arrive home, make a cup of tea (Herbal tea in my case),
sit down and relax and open your box of Tunnock’s tea cakes.
When you bite into a Tunnocks Tea Cake, it’s such a beautiful
experience. It is so soft, yet also crunchy. It will not be consumed
in one mouthful, but about 4 or 5 should do it!!
The base is biscuit, and is topped with marshmallow and
covered in real milk chocolate. There is no blob of jam in the middle,
which you may find in other brands of tea cakes. The taste is not too
sickly, just lovely. The marshmallow is so soft, it just melts in your
mouth. It’s a real luxury food.

Where can you buy Tunnocks Tea cakes?

I bought my box in Somerfields, but I expect most supermarkets
will stock them
