ION ITT USB TURNTABLE

Advantages: The easy way to transfer vinyl to cd or mp3
Disadvantages: expensive

...they used to' then the ION ITT USB turntable is the product that you need. Whilst a lot of the classic vinyl albums have been released on CD there are still many that are not available. The turntable is made from sturdy plastic with clear easy to use controls. The only assembly required is to put the head together and attach it to the turntable mount. Getting the balance correct is fundamental to record reproduction but the instructions are clear ...

USB Turntable - simple, effective and cool!

Advantages: Uncluttered, easy-to-use, good-sound
Disadvantages: Lack of information in instruction manual, fairly large space required

I was given this as a gift after expressing an interest in collecting vinyl. I needed a turntable on which I could play records without the additional expense of an amplifier and speaker system, and this device looked like the best choice (it has a pre-amp, meaning it gives out sound at an already usable level so it can be plugged straight into speakers). Mine was purchased from Firebox for £79.99 - it's not hugely cheap, but it does contain everything ...
...First impressions of the turntable were impressive. Size-wize, it is pretty large and you'll need a decent sized area (approx 42cm x 34cm x 10cm) on which to place it. If you need something a little smaller, the comparable TTUSB10 looks like it has a slightly more discrete footprint for a slightly higher price. Obviously though, the size of the turntable is constrained by the size of an LP. You also need a good 35cm of headroom above the turntable ...

Panasonic Technics MK5

Advantages: Many
Disadvantages: none

...MK5 is the newest model. Technics is purcased by Panasonic so this is Technics Panasonic Turntable. The technics technology remained in full, the S shaped tonearm remained also, the platters weight remained also, etc... MK5 is improoved, like the antis skating adjustment is 6 grammes. The pitch control fader is also better, it has no "click" at the 0 percent, so it gives you more precision while mixing around 0 %. Also the light on the pitch control ...
...reset control for really 100% precision. I prefer this to pro DJs, also for beginners if they are not buying some cheaper Stanton or Numark, but don't prefer this for just home use for listening vinyls. This is for mixing! One more thing is the target light. I bet everyone is bored of, when the target light dies, and you cann't replace it. At this model, the target light is supplyed with a long life LED. The motor remained almoust the same, just ...

A smart gadget but let down but uneven sound quality

Advantages: Simple to use
Disadvantages: Bad sound quality at times

I bought one of these turntables a while ago because it seemed ideal for me. You can plug it into your hi-fi in the same way you would a normal turntable but without the need for earthing it. This obviously is not it's main attraction. It also has a USB connection so you can plug it into your computer and record records from it. I have been collecting records for many years now of all shapes and sizes; 12", 10", 7", 45 rpm, 33 rpm, 78 rpm, etc... ...
...could record these and have them on my iPod as some tracks are still not available on CD or digital format. On the whole, this device does the job. It has 2 playing speeds that are the standard 33 rpm and 45 rpm. Sadly no 78 which is a shame but I suppose there is little call for it. It also comes with the small circular disc you can use for playing 45"s with the hole cut out of the middle. It came with some software for recording which was ample ...

Still the industry standard turntable?

Advantages: Excellent reliablity, accurate pitch control, nice feel to them
Disadvantages: Not so many features compared to newer decks, low pitch range

...I will mention, and what Technics are renound for, is their durability. My decks have been to parties, had drinks spilled on them, dropped, been in the back of transit vans, and they still work perfectly. There is no sign of damage to the tone arms, or in fact any other area of them. The lights on the platter still stay in perfect allignment at 33rpm, which shows that they still turn at precisely 33rpm. It's almost like you couldn't break them if ...
...torque - when you drop in the vinyl, it begins to spin at 33 or 45 rpm almost instantly. Then again, they don't have too much either. I have mixed on decks such as the Stanton STR8150s, and they have so much torque you really have to push on the vinyl to slow it down a little and get it in time. As a result, they are very nice for beginner DJs as they will get in time easily and then stay in time. Now I come to the negative aspects - and there are ...
