A good portable piece of kit
Advantages: plays all speeds and is easy to use Disadvantages: Bulky and not very attractive/ sound quality if using built in speaker
I had been looking for something like this for a long time. I am a keen record collector and have travelled to the United States on many occasions to hunt for hidden treasures. On each trip, this little device has accompanied me. This device is self-sufficient. I must confess to not having used it battery operated so can't comment on that but from the mains it works well. It has a built in speaker and is already earthed so you don't need a hi-fi ... ...plug it in if you wish). This is obviously ideal for travel. The sound quality out of it's speaker is not great but depending on your requirements is ample. Word of warning: watch out that you have it turned to zero if you are plugging into a hi-fi otherwise you will get double playback. What I really like about this is that it can play all records speeds that means, whereas many other turntables on the market won't, this can play 78 RPM vinyl too. ...

TT200
Advantages: Good quality and features Disadvantages: N/A
Numark turntables were the first ones I bought many years ago when I started out and do I always have a special place in my heart for their products. When the TT200 was released I was quite impressed by the design and some of the features so decided to check them out. The TT200 looks very cool indeed. They are not shaped like other turntables; rectangular with harsh corners, this has a much more sleeker looking design with luxurious looking smooth ... ...smart design takes nothing away from the sturdiness of the turntable and I reckon that this could take quite a battering before playback became affected. The platter and the tone-arm feel strong and I would image they would stand up to a fair bit of force. When making any contact with the record being played the needle only skipped when excessive force was used. There are two really appealing features of this turntable that stand out for me; the ...

Perfect for beginners
Advantages: Great value for money Disadvantages: Outgrow them quickly
These decks are perfect for anyone starting out with the DJing. However, if you can afford to I would recommend going for something a bit better, only because you with grow out of them pretty quickly. The torque of the motor is weak meaning the platter stops turning as soon as you put more than the lightest touch on it. I have also found that they cant hold the pitch very well, so you can never hold a perfect mix for very long. Combine this with ... ...The look of the turntables is fantastic to me. Sat either side of a mixer and you get a fantastic feature in your bedroom! They are also cleverly designed to be moved into the 'battle' position. This is used for scratching mainly, but with such low torque you cant really scratch on them anyway.
The needles that are supplied arent fantasic and you would be better buying some new ones. However, they are perfectly fine for the beginner.
You dont really ...

TT1650 perfect for a beginner
Advantages: quality for money Disadvantages: pitch shifter
...Pitch control: +/- 10%
Includes Numark Groove Tool cartridge
Phono output
ABS body The TT1650 is the industry standard entry level turntable. There is something quite alluring about this deck, it has everything you could ask for from a beginners point of view, it stylish, cheap, and has features no other entry level deck has.
Numark is a well respected manufacturer of quality dj equipment. They are probably most well known for their ability to ... ...the professional turntables have, and Numark have managed to still use this however keep the cost down. The direct drive motor gives the advantage of extra torque when compared to a belt driven turntable. A large amount of torque is one of the key issues to take into consideration when buying a turntable, with the TT1650 providing a perfect amount for a beginner.
However there are draw backs, which would make me reconsider buying this as a beginner. ...

Not for DJing!
Advantages: High quality sound. Anti-skating and tonearm weight preadjusted so no expertise needed. Disadvantages: Not for DJing
...not designed for that. The Technics SL-BD22 provides audiophile quality record playback for an extremely low price. I have used a lot of record players in the past and the quality of playback this provides is equivalent to other players that have cost £500+. It does feature a pitch control, like most DJ equipment, which may have caused the confusion, but this is meant for fine adjustments only, for example to correct the speed of a poorly mastered ...
