A good deck with a wealth of features. The fact that it speeds up so fast changes the way scratching sounds, for the worse. You don't get the classic sound as the disk gets back up to speed :( I think they made this feature so they could say they're 'better' than technics, but they went and changed one of the fundamental sounds of scratching. The direct drive motor gives the advantage of extra torque when compared to a belt driven turntable. A large amount of torque is one of the key issues to take into consideration when buying a turntable, with the TT1650 providing a perfect amount for a beginner.
