Panasonic Technics MK5
Advantages: Many Disadvantages: none
...MK5 is the newest model.
Technics is purcased by Panasonic so this is Technics Panasonic Turntable. The technics technology remained in full, the S shaped tonearm remained also, the platters weight remained also, etc...
MK5 is improoved, like the antis skating adjustment is 6 grammes.
The pitch control fader is also better, it has no "click" at the 0 percent, so it gives you more precision while mixing around 0 %. Also the light on the pitch control ... ...reset control for really 100% precision.
I prefer this to pro DJs, also for beginners if they are not buying some cheaper Stanton or Numark, but don't prefer this for just home use for listening vinyls. This is for mixing!
One more thing is the target light. I bet everyone is bored of, when the target light dies, and you cann't replace it. At this model, the target light is supplyed with a long life LED. The motor remained almoust the same, just ...

Still the industry standard turntable?
Advantages: Excellent reliablity, accurate pitch control, nice feel to them Disadvantages: Not so many features compared to newer decks, low pitch range
...I will mention, and what Technics are renound for, is their durability. My decks have been to parties, had drinks spilled on them, dropped, been in the back of transit vans, and they still work perfectly. There is no sign of damage to the tone arms, or in fact any other area of them. The lights on the platter still stay in perfect allignment at 33rpm, which shows that they still turn at precisely 33rpm. It's almost like you couldn't break them if ... ...torque - when you drop in the vinyl, it begins to spin at 33 or 45 rpm almost instantly. Then again, they don't have too much either. I have mixed on decks such as the Stanton STR8150s, and they have so much torque you really have to push on the vinyl to slow it down a little and get it in time. As a result, they are very nice for beginner DJs as they will get in time easily and then stay in time.
Now I come to the negative aspects - and there are ...

The bentley of the dj world
Advantages: never misses a beat Disadvantages: nope, cant think of any!
...a beat aswell as the technics 1210, is durability is awesome aswell, ive had mine for 12 years and they havent needed a service, repair or anything go wrong with it. Choose between 33 and 45 rpm, the pitch control goes from -10 to +10 and moves very smoothly and easily. The arm is very nice and slips on the record with ease and has the weight on the back so you can adjust it accordingly to suit yourself.
It comes with a pop up light so you can see ... ...the turntable.
The sound quality is top notch aswell, with the right needles of course and it shows why all the clubs and pros have used it for many many years.
The legs have great suspension so they wont feel the vibration in clubs or your bedroom so it never skips or misses a beat.
Overall by far the best record player around, and has set the bar so high, no one has jumped it yet. ...

The classic deck
Advantages: Excellent startup time Disadvantages: Limited features
Technics are famous for there remarkable series of 1200 decks being the industry standard and favourite of D.j's across the globe.
The 1210's are simply the black version of the 1200's being mechanically no different from the silver 1200's. The 1200 series are renowned for their almost indestructible build quality and blistering performance with start up times of less then half a second and a high powered direct drive motor delivering a massive ... ...are the jewel in the Technics brand and stand for real quality.
The decks layout is perfect and when using them everything seams to be in exactly the right place these have really been developed with the user in mind and Technics have not skimped on anything, with a pure rubber base and aluminium top plate the decks feel as solid as a rock.
The decks operate at both 33 and 45 speeds and the new mark 3's included a pitch reset button that when pressed ...

Not for DJing!
Advantages: High quality sound. Anti-skating and tonearm weight preadjusted so no expertise needed. Disadvantages: Not for DJing
...not designed for that. The Technics SL-BD22 provides audiophile quality record playback for an extremely low price. I have used a lot of record players in the past and the quality of playback this provides is equivalent to other players that have cost £500+. It does feature a pitch control, like most DJ equipment, which may have caused the confusion, but this is meant for fine adjustments only, for example to correct the speed of a poorly mastered ...
