"Essential website for Students!"

Tutor2u.net is a really helpful and interesting website with many resources and information for students studying Economics, Business Studies, ICT, Accounting and Finance or Politics. I have mostly used the economics resourses as I am studying A2 Economics but for research purposes I investigated the other sections.

For each subject there are some revision notes, which are very detailed and some even contain diagrams or graphs. There are also a selection of powerpoint presentations and interactive quizzes on each subject. The presentations are easy to understand, colourful and informative and the quizzes are ideal for testing your knowledge. There are many different types of quizzes such as crosswords, fill in the blanks and multiple choice. The quizzes are interactive and you will be told if you have answered correctly or not. If you answer incorrectly the quiz gives you the correct answer, this can very useful for revising and testing yourself.

The tutor2u website in general enables students to revise or conduct research as the information is easy to find and set out in a clear and consise manner. Not only does this site make it easy to study, it makes studying more interesting and even entertaining!

ECONOMICS:

There are sections on GSCE and A Level Economics and in my opinion the economics sections seem to be the most helpful as they contain the most information.

The GSCE section contains a number of pages of revision notes, arranged under various different topics, there is also a link to a glossary of some basic terminolgy which students need to be aware of. The notes are suitable for all syllabuses but each page of notes does not speficy which syllabus they are for it is up to the student to choose the topics which they need.

The A Level section contains even more information, with literally hundereds of pages of revision notes arranged in 30 categories including: macro economics, micro economics, elasticity, business economics, development economics and much much more! In addition to the usual revision notes, presentations and interactive quizzes, there are "Economics Flashcards". These flashcards are animated graphs displaying statistics about the UK and the Eurozone economies such as unemployment rates, inflation, levels of GDP, productiviy and many other economic indicators. The flashcards are very useful for research and can be interesting reading for anyone regardless of whether they are studying economics or not.

POLITICS:

Although there is no specification of the study level of the notes they seemed to be aimed at A Level students. There are notes under several categories such as Political parties, referendums and electoral reform. The notes are quite detailed and informative and some contain diagrams and numerical examples. The politics section also has a number of powerpoint presentations however there does not seem to be any interactive quizzes on the politics section. The presentations are informative and comprehensible, I found them rather enjoyable even though I am not a politics student!

ICT:

The ICT section is a relatively new addition to the Tutor2u website and so there are not yet many resources available. This section, however, is being worked on continously and there will be more notes and some interactive quizzes coming soon. At present there are only about 15 pages of revision notes but these are quite helpful. There are notes on various topics including data collection, system security and LAN. Coming soon are notes on "Use of information within organisations" and "Using the Internet as a Business tool".

ACCOUNTING & FINANCE:

There is a comrehensive list of revision notes on accounting and finance, topics covered include management accounting, financial accounting and sources of finance. There are also a few case studies, these make interesting reading and are a great way to see principles being put into practice. There are a number of interactive quizzes on accounting and finance but there are not yet any presentations.

BUSINESS STUDIES:

There is not a specific section for revision notes on business studies but there are, however, sections on Marketing, People/Organisations, Production/Operations and Stategy. These sections in addition to the Accounting & Finance section can provide a lot of valuable information which is relavent to most A Level and GSCE business studies courses. There are two business studies presentations available as well as some interactive quizzes. At the moment there are only quizzes about marketing but the site is constantly being updated so it is very likely that more quizzes on different sections will soon be added.

FORUMS:

There are forums on each of the above subjects as well as some additional forums on other issues such as UCAS applications, news items, "world of work" and "away from study". The forums are really helpful as you can ask questions about anything and there are always people (including qualified teaching staff) who will answer your questions or provide relavent links to useful websites.

REVISION MAPS:

The revision maps are available in the form of a PDF document with links to all the notes, quizzes and presentations needed to help you with your revision for each module. These are probably the most useful item on the website as they are specific for each particular syllabus for each module and it saves you from having to trawl though your syllabus and look for the corresponding material on the website. As of yet I think these are only available for Economics but there are separate revision maps for all A Level modules on the AQA, OCR, Edexcel and WJEC exam boards.

SHOP:

The shop sells a lot of things at quite reasonable prices. The things sold in the shop are very helpful for students, there are CD roms, books and posters and these are not just for business education subjects they are available English, Economics, Business Studies, Politics and ICT. In addition to educational materials they are selling Tutor2u official merchandise inluding pens and a 128MB USB storage device that looks like a pen!

IN CONCLUSION:

This website is an amazing wealth of information, it is very useful for students, teachers or anyone with an interest in current affairs or economics. The notes, quizzes and presentations are free for anyone to look at and there is a seach facility and an A-Z glossary just in case you need to look up any terms you see in the articles. This is definatly worth checking out!

I'm a T2U lover too!! Wonder whether you are THE gems? There's undergrad stuff nowadays and there's also expansion on other core subjects such as English, exciting site that grew massively in the last 5 years!

Gee, in my day we had to buy revision guides (or not, in my case). Doesn't sound like much here, if anything, would be useful to me now - but a good resource for those still doing GCSEs/A levels.
