...I used to use the zip drive for important information, however now I have found that it is easy to actually break the password on a zip disk. There is a very simple method to remove the password from the disk: 1. Insert a blank disk into the zip drive 2. Give this disk a password (it can be any password, as long as you remember it) 3. Using the Ioega toolset, set the zip drive's sleep time to a large value (such as 1 minute) 4. Wait a while until the drive "spins down". You will hear the drive stop spinning. 5. Take a pin or a straighten paper clip and stick it into a hole in the back of the Zip drive. This will manually eject the blank disk. 6. ...Well let me "try" and explain what a Zip Drive is. This plugs unto your USB port and looks like an external floppy disk drive, the actual disks are roughly the same dimension as a normal floppy disk, but a little thicker. The disks are well built and would be hard to damage. They are similar to floppy disks in that they have a shield which slides back when in the drive, so the disk is fully encased. Zip disks come in size variations of 25MB, 100MB and 250MB disk and still cost new around £10. Zip disks cannot be shared with others unless they have a zip drive also or you carry your drive around with you. POSSITIVES Disks can be re-used again and again. Advantages: Work at 52x
Disadvantages: none

...maybe the first 20 disks of the 100 and I have had no problems with these disks at all, they have all worked fine and I have been burning them at 52x so they do live up to their billing of being 52x proof, they are also 700MB disks (can you still get the smaller size disks?). The drive that I am using is a Lite-on 52x24x52x CD-RW and so if you also use a 52x drive then these disks will be for you as they do work at 52x, the software that I am using is Nero 5.5.10.9 (the version bundled with the drive). I would expect these to work fine with the other burning software that you can get and they should work with other drives as they are really all the same. If you have a slower drive then it should work fine with that as disks can be burnt at various speeds. The price I paid for these disks was £17.99 inc VAT and delivery, they have a silver...
