Twinings - the sophisticated tea

Advantages: Excellent range and quality
Disadvantages: Lapsang Souchong

...I recently decided to try Twinings teas, and was certainly not disappointed.

Their teas are rich and full of flavour. Ceylon, Assam, Darjeeling, Earl Grey, English Breakfast and Lapsang Souchong are available in most supermarkets, although some of the rarer teas, like Keemun and Yunnan, may be more difficult to find. All types are sold in both bag and leaf form.

PACKAGING

As you browse the shelves in ...
...stacked boxes of Twinings teas. Their sophisticated boxes seem to stand out from among the other teas. Boxes seem to have a regal quality about them. They are black with a strip of gold across the top embodying the "Twinings" logo. On the reverse of the box is a very informative "tea guide". This tells you about the origins of the tea, its flavour, when it is best drunk and gives brewing instructions.

...world. Twinings Darjeeling Tea Twinings is one of the oldest and most illustrious tea companies in Britain and their Darjeeling tea is world renowned. Darjeeling itself is on the northern edge of West Bengal and the tea is cultivated at heights of between 1,000 and 2,000 metres on estates clinging precipitously to the foothills of the Himalayas. On a clear day it is said you can see the distant snows of Mount Everest. Darjeeling tea is a full-bodied ...

Delicate yet distinct

Advantages: Delicate flavour, not as strong as regular tea
Disadvantages: Can be quite expensive in some stores.

...A black box with twinings written on a silver background. The name and logo of the tea itself is written in green. On the side is the 'Twinings Tea Guide', which tells you about the origin, flavour and occasion, brewing instructions and recommendations. Very useful if you are new to the tea. At £1.49 for 50 teabags, the price is quite reasonable. I get mine from tesco, who currently have an offer of two boxes for £2. Some stores such do tend to ...

Tea time

Advantages: You can buy it loose or also teabags.
Disadvantages: Too small packaging of loose tea.

Full of flavour, very refreshing, and most important - fantastically good at any time of day with or without milk or even more refreshing drink with slice of lemon, uhm...I can almost taste it! To me cup of tea freshly made is like being in heaven. I just like to sit on my own in front of the fire(in winter months) or on my patio in summer and read my favorite book or a magazine and taste the warm, comforting flavour. Also, while shoping and taking ...

Not quite twinings standards (Twinings Pure Green Tea)

Advantages: price
Disadvantages: taste

In twinings, you have a well established tea provider, one you can trust to produce a quality tea. I have always bought my English Breakfast, Earl Grey and Darjeeling teas from twinings, and hence thought that the twinings green tea would not disappoint. To my surprise I have not very much enjoyed this tea one bit. A bit about Green Tea Green tea is made purely from Camellia sinensis leaves, and is enjoyed without milk. It is a highly aromatic tea, with many reported health benefits, reportedly containing a number of anti-oxidants. It is thus said to be beneficial in the prevention of cancer and cardiocascular disease. Green tea has also been implicated as a weight-loss drink, supposedly raising basal metabolism. These findings have not been statistically shown to be significant however, as of yet, and this is not to say that ...

Tea with the Delicate Touch!

Advantages: No need for milk. Less calories.
Disadvantages: Might not like the flavour.

research indicates that the Bergamot orange is a cross between the sweet or pear lemon (Citrus Limetta) and the Seville or sour orange (Citrus Aurantium). Earl Grey tea is a fine blend of Oriental teas scented with oil of bergamot and is famous for its exceptional fragrance. The tea proved so popular in the Prime Minister's drawing room that his tea merchants, Twinings in the Strand, were given a sample and asked to come up with a close match. Twinings sold the first "Earl Grey's tea" in the British market. Twinings Earl Grey blend includes China tea, Indian Darjeeling, Ceylon, and a hint of Lapsang souchong, a strong, "smoky" black tea. Although it is often served black (without milk), many of the upper classes (contrary to belief) drink it with a little milk (which gives the tea a murky grey colour, similar to that of dull washing up ...

Review of Twinings Earl Grey Tea

Not really my cup of tea.

Advantages: Low caffeine. Pleasant citrus taste.
Disadvantages: Low strength. Too delicately flavoured.

evolved. Earl Grey, a revolutionary English prime minister between 1830 and 1835, was introduced to the tea by a wealthy Mandarin whose life he saved. When he returned to England, he gave the recipe to the tea makers Twinings to reproduce the blend for him. The tea soon became popular. His wife, the Lady Grey, however found the tea a little strong for her taste and asked Twinings to produce a more delicate variation. To do so, Twinings restricted the blend of teas to just China tea in comparison to the possible mix of China teas, Indian Darjeeling and Ceylon teas of the Earl Grey. The bergamot is still present but in lesser quantities but now added to the tea blend is a mix of the peels of lemons and Seville oranges with flavourings of orange and lemon. To make the tea, pour boiling water over the tea bag and left to stand for 2 ?4 ...
