Trawling through the freezer for an unsuspecting something that I could fling in the microwave and pass off as dinner, I came across my pot of Twix Ice Cream. Peeping out from under the mixed veg and other remarkably boring stuff (hidden to protect it from the males of my household) it was shouting eat me. Okay, it wasn't really. I just felt like indulging, so I thought to myself 'sod dinner' and got stuck in.
Twix Ice Cream comes (surprise surprise) in a twix-y designed cardboard tub, containing 500mls of calorific creaminess, woohooooo! When you excitedly (or otherwise) prize the lid off, you're greeted with the wondrous sight of.... a piece of waxed paper? Yup, waxed paper no doubt to ensure the product stays fresh? (can you have fresh with frozen goods?) until opened.
Anyway, after ripping that off, you are enticed by the delicate yellowy ice cream and rich brown caramel swirly bits. Looks absolutely wonderful, with a smell to match. As for the taste... mmmmmmmmm, scrummy. Okay, so 'mmmmmmmmm, scrummy' isn't exactly the best I've ever done on the taste description front, but what else can I say? (Close shave there, my spell check wanted to replace scrummy with scummy!)
The ice cream has a light vanilla taste, really creamy but not overly sweet, contrasted by rich caramel swirly bits and plenty of them.
So, there I was, digging my spoon in when it hit something hard. Buried treasure I wondered? Well almost. Chocolate balls!!! And not just any chocolate balls, but chocolate covered Twix biscuit balls. Ahhhh, total perfection. Crunchy balls and creamy bits, what more could a girl ask for ;o)
The balance of balls 'n' stuff is just right, each spoonful is creamy, crunchy and.... amazingly high in calories no doubt but we can forget that for the moment.
To be honest I was surprised that I got as much pleasure from this little Twix logo emblazoned pot as I did. I'm not really a normal Twix lover, (only bought it coz it was on offer) but I was very pleased with my purchase.
At the price of £2.49 from Tesco I'd be happy to pay that again (even though I didn't pay that in the first place as I stocked up during a BOGOF offer at the end of last year). It's certainly good value for money, and hands down beats the price of some other famed ice cream brands that I refuse to try for fear of an unhealthy addiction that would most likely ensure my hips never see the inside of a clothes size 12 again.
So, what's in the tub then I hear you ask? Well, didn't I already say, 500mls of Twix Ice Cream. Sorry, being serious, there's all the stuff that you'd expect to be there...
...and nothing that looks too fierce. Of course if you know you suffer at the hands of specific stuff (E numbers etc) you'd have to double check you're okay with everything, and sorry nut allergy sufferers - PRODUCT MAY CONTAIN TRACES OF PEANUT.
Well, you may've worked out I liked it. Can't think of any major concerns except I'd like to know how many calories I've just scoffed, then again I'll settle for a rough guess in the region of too many. Hey, what you don't know can't hurt you don't they say?
Back to seriousness for one final word, the pot! Those who have read my ops on the Snickers Ice Cream, and Bounty Ice Cream will know I was undecided on the merits of the cardboard container. Whilst to recycle from an environmental point of view (as in throw away and get pulped) cardboard is the best substance, from a recycle to re-use point of view (ie wash out container and use again) cardboard is a no no. The jury's still out on that issue. Maybe after another pot or 2 I may make up my mind what would be best. Not a major concern though, just a little niggle.
Overall, love it, recommend it, go find a 24hr supermarket and buy some now...

I really like Twix ice creams. I mean I *really* like them – enough to add the *s even though it then means arguing with Word which wants to remove them for me and make the word bold…. They have everything a good ice cream should have – the soft ice cream, hard chocolate combination of classic choc ices. There’s the smooth flowing caramel and the hard crunchy biscuit, and what’s more, it’s all together ... ...You can also get Twix ice cream in a tub (on offer £2.99 for 2 at Tesco at the moment). This is similar to the bars – creamy vanilla Ice Cream swirled with chocolate and caramel with chunks of biscuit throughout. Twix ice creams can be bought worldwide from supermarkets / ice cream vending machines / newsagents / kiosks etc. Only the original version is available in the UK but they have a peanut butter one in the US. I doubt this’ll be ...

Advantages: Delicious Disadvantages: Tubs aren't big enough
...myself to a tub of Twix and a tub of Bounty ice cream. As hubby is partial to Bounty, I thought I would save that for him so I made a start on the tub of Twix!
First impressions? Well, the tub isn’t big enough for a start! I could eat that in one sitting if I tried hard. But size aside, it is a cardboard tub with the familiar Twix logo on the side in red. The background is the sort of gold/bronze colour that you would see on a Twix bar.

For me, the Twix in a tub is better than the Twix ice cream bars – the ice cream is much creamier and the whole package blends together for a much more satisfying treat.
As I said before, the 500ml tubs are currently on buy one, get one free (all Mars varieties) priced £2.49 at Tesco’s, so what are you waiting for! ...

Advantages: tastes really nice, very much like the choc bar itself Disadvantages: I WANT MORE
...This opinion is on the Twix Ice cream bar, rather than the tubs of ice cream, but they are nice too, especially the little balls of chocoalte that you find each time you dip your spoon in.
But, the bars. They are made with the same tasting chocoalate that you get on the regular Twix, with a biscuity bit inside. But the biscuit is not as big as in the normal sweet, it's just in the middle of a vanilla ice cream filling. They were £1.99 for 4, but there was one of those 'buy one get one free' offers, so you could get another box for free - or you could get the Bounty ones instead. Advantages: Nice chocolate on the outside Disadvantages: horrid chocolate in the middle
Oh dear, I never do very well with titles do I?
Anyway, I was doing the shopping at Tesco's and came across those buy one get one free offers we all love, these were scrummy icecreams, they had the choice of Twix, bounty, galaxy, mars dark and gold and malteasers. (offer is still on if any of you are interested!)
I opted for the malteasers and galaxy, followed swiftly the next week by twix and galaxy! I'm not a very chocolaty person but as the weather has been so lovely I have had the urge for something cold and delicious.
I opened the box of malteaser icecreams, this contains 3 icecreams, not the usual 4 as the others do. The wrapper is red with malteaser writen on it. These also say not to bo sold separately, I've only ever seen them in packs but I'm sure they would sell them individually.
The icecream is three ...

of different sizes. From the bite size ones in Celebrations, to extra large Twix bars. Not only that you can get multi pack bars that hold up to 28 and even TwixIce-creams.
Packaging:
Although the style of wrapper has changed, it is more shinny now, the basic design and distinctive logo of the bar has never changed in the last 30 plus years. It is a rich golden colour and in instantly recognisable on all Twix products. On the back of the packet is the nutrition information, written in several different languages. I struggled to read this, as the writing was very small and unclear. This worried me for those with allergies, as it is certainly not at all obvious if the product is safe for them.
The Twix is stored in an airtight packet, which I would imagine keeps the product fresh and extents its shelf life. I remember years ago the bars used ...

Ciao members have rated this review on average: very helpful Review of Mars Twix
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Sickly to the point of inedibility
As with many of these products, the appeal of the original is lost in its transfer to icecream form. When will the manufacturers learn that, without exception, chocolate bars do not make good icecreams. After the disasters of Mars and Twix in icecream form, Cadbury's have hit a new low with this dreadful product. The sweetness of an already incredibly sickly treat is increased to a state where it is inedible to all but the most addicted of chocaholics. Children should be kept away from this tooth rotting nightmare at all costs. A Magnum or similar bar, carefully blended for the icecream market would be a much better choice. Don't be taken in by the brand name, this is a total nightmare that must be avoided. ...
