For anyone who doesn't know a great deal about Peter Jones, let me just give you a short overview.

He started his own tennis academy at the age of 17 and at 19 started a business providing computers and services to corporate clients. By 35 he had created a £200 million business, but it wasnt all easy peasy. At one stage he was bankrupt.

The main aim of this book is to help the reader to enhance their 'tycoon mindset', Peter often refers to this saying, as he believes that is all that is neccesary to succed in the world of business. The tycoon mindset consists of elements such as; imagination, focus and determination. Peter says that anyone can be a Tycoon as long as they can adapt to this mindset.

Guidelines

In my opinion, the book is set out like a list of guidelines. Peter states a guideline to follow and underneath is an in depth explanation of why and how to do this. Not just is there an explanation but Peter also tells stories of his past experiences (some good, some bad) involving using these guidelines. The guidelines/ rules that Peter states are;

As i am currently looking to start up a business, this book was a massive help as it has the steps that should be taken in order to create a successful business. The steps/rules are also really easy to follow and clearly stated. Another thing i loved about this book is that it includes lots of fantastic quotes from legendary icons,for example, Albert Einstein. My favourite quotes in the book were;

'Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning' - Bill Gates

'Imagination is more important than knowledge, for knowledge is what we already know and understand. Imagination is what we are yet to discover' - Albert Einstein

Cost

Although i payed £16.99 for the book, at the time i wasnt happy with that price, but after gathering all the information from it, i believe that for my business, this book turned out to be invaluable.

Downside

From my point of view, there is only one downside to this book and that is the repetitiveness. The first third of the book moved swiftly forward as all the information i was reading was new and very helpful but as we got 2 the middle third, it seems to keep going over the past rules that had already been discussed. It became very frustating at one point but once through that patch, the book picks up once again and ends as helpful as it started.
