Advantages The conception

Disadvantages The "New & Improved" claim

I've just written an e-mail to Typhoo to complain about the sea-change they've made to what was an excellent product we'd bought since the very first days they appeared on the shelves - after putting the ubiquitous "New & Improved" tag on the packet. What a joke. From being a refreshing and light bright orangey-brown tea, with a real "pick-me-up" result despite the relative lack of caffeine, it's become a dull and muddy mink-brown, bitter-sour affair that tastes like dishwater (honestly!), and mostly ends up being chucked away - as has the remainder of the box now. Unfortunately, the taste tends to linger. It's not our water - it makes superb coffee from the cheapest and best beans (Tesco Original - yes but must be beans and not those powders), and we had the same result after brewing up the few we took with us to our holiday cottage in Grenada - we blamed the water there, then still bought a local non-decaff replacement which was much pleasanter! From being an "mmm" tea it's become a "yuch". Advertising Standards misrepresentations with that notorious "New and Improved" label methinks. A great shame. Why make changes for changes' sake?
