    Advantages Advantages Complete yet concise

Disadvantages Disadvantages Book isn't helpful for Joint Schools courses

A very useful book, if you know *exactly* what you want to do, and it's a single subject. I wanted to apply for courses in Mathematics and Computer Science. Or Computing with Mathematics. or Computation and Mathematics. Point is, in the UCAS directory it is hard to look for a range of subjects like this, even though they are so similar. I procured a copy of the CDROM, which was infinitely more useful. I could search for maths courses, narrow it down to ones that also involved computing, and there I was. It has been said in the past that schools usually don't have enough copies of the disc ... more

Advantages Advantages You can recycle it

Disadvantages Disadvantages They naver have enough copies of the CD-ROM version to go around

Unlike the website you can only find things in the directroy by looking under ... more

Once you have decided what course you want to do, the UCAS handbook is an excellent source to chose which course to do and where, and it especially comes in handy when you are applying for a University place. It lists the institutions across the country, and the courses they offer. This way you can find out which Universities offer which courses. However they do not list the entry requirements, just which course they offer, you can check what the entry requirements are by looking at the Universities own prospectus. This handbook simply gives you a detailed comprehensive guide at what ... more

Advantages Advantages a good reference point

Disadvantages Disadvantages superceeded by CD-ROM and internet services.

every person entering the ucas system gets this - thats hundreds of copies per college or sixthform. and reading the other comments you can see guess how thick it is. five years ago, even two, this book was a veritable mine of information for the 17-18 year old poring over it, imagining the thrills of taking bookbinding or calligraphy for three years, but now, with the excellent CD and website, the book is reduntant. using the book, you have to think about which universities you want to go to before you can see if they do your course or not, wheras with the website and CD you can search and ... more
