This is a program that shows you how you can change your garden completely. Gay Search transforms a front garden with the various stages of work shown and explained. She shows you how to get the best out of what you have. What is good about this program is that the work is not done by a group of magical pixies who come along in the dead of night and complete the lot, but by the presenter and the family. If they can't do brickwork then a builder is called upon, the same with carpentry but Gay tends to be able to do most things. She explains about the plants and how to care for them and make them bloom. If you want to do something with your patch of ground then this program is definately one to watch.
Advantages: great ideas and designs Disadvantages: unachievable to most
The idea is good but unless you are willing to spend, spend, spend then this show is literally, just for show. I would love to do my garden but it is too dear. The designers do lots of bold and inspiring things such as building tiled mosaic walls, putting up mature exotic plants, building weird and wonderful garden structures which would cost lots if you wanted to recreate them. That is unless you have a BBC site foreman and a team of workers to do what you bid and an endless supply of bricks, cement, steel, timber, earth, and of course, plants.
Please Anne and Dairmud (the designers), when you say things are affordable and that 'this was done for Ģ1200, please remember not some people can only spare a few quid on their garden.
I'd recommend this program if you like designs and gardens but remember that there's a price tag.... ...
