UMAX Astra 5450 is the ideal scanner for the SoHo and ambitious amateurs with high resolution, easy to use, attractive design and excellent quality. For excellent image quality, the Astra 5450 scans with a resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi and a color depth of 42 bit (14 bit A/D- converter). This high resolution is designed to scan slides and negatives. For this feature the Astra 5450 contains the transparent unit. Another new feature is an additional Scanner button, which offers "Power Saving". This is additional to the three conventional buttons: Scan, Copy and Custom. The Astra 5450 comes with the fast speed of USB technology along with hot-pluggable support giving fast, versatile and high quality image capture. A long life is a guarantee with the dust protected scanner lamp. The Astra 5450 has four built-in scan buttons. Scanning is now as easy as operating a copy machine: simply push one of the buttons to scan or print documents automatically. A third button can be programmed to automatically start OCR, Fax, e-mail or any other application. The Power Saving Button turns the scan lamp on and off. VistaScan beginner mode offers fully automatic scans; just a click on the scan button and VistaScan will do the rest. VistaScan advanced mode offers all kinds of necessary tools for own specific demands such as multiple scans, hue and saturation control, gamma curve and descreening. With VistaAccess in the tool bar the scanner can be accessed at any time, loading an image or text into the current application without switching between several programs. MagicMatch, the Kodak Color Management System, offers calibrated scanner profiles that meet the ICC standard. The color is consistent from scanner to screen display and to printer. By choosing the auto adjustment, Kodak MagicMatch is activated and outputs perfect pictures with a standard setting. For scanning slides and transparent originals, the Astra 5450, including a transparency cover, is the right choice. The built-in fixed light source in the cover scans up to 4" x 5" transparencies or 4 slides at a time.
