Manufacturer's product description
The Mirage II is a large format (A3 size) scanner based UMAX proprietary technology for a dual-lens design. The single-pass, 36-bit scanner increases in-house productivity by providing batch scanning and prepress capabilities intended for professional graphic designers and publishing professionals. With a large 11.4" x 17" scanning area, the Mirage II is ideal for users in reproduction houses and service bureaus who want to scan multiple images, large artwork, newspapers, magazines, aerial and satellite maps or even medical X-ray film. Based on a unique dual-lens design, Mirage II performs at resolutions of 700 x 1400 dpi and 1400 x 2800 dpi, true hardware resolution. Dual-lens technology overcomes the limitations of current charged coupled device (CCD) technology, offering a breakthrough method for increasing optical resolution. Prior to the introduction of the dual-lens design, true optical resolution for flatbed scanners was limited by the number of optic detectors contained in a CCD. This limitation makes development of high, true optical resolution in flatbed scanners difficult and expensive. By using two sets of optics that have two different magnification factors, UMAX overcomes the CCD limitation. When selecting a higher resolution with a maximum scanning area of 5.7" x 17", the optical resolution doubles to an incredible 1400 x 2800 dpi. In effect, dual-lens technology provides a cost-effective method for increasing optical resolution simply, easily and accurately. This package also includes transparency adaptor and various software products you will need every day - MagicScan, Adobe PhotoShop LE, BinuScan PhotoPerfect (RGB+CMYK).
