Advantages: Very inexpensive isp at £8.99pm; good speeds most of the time; no junk mail clogging inbox Disadvantages: Can't connect a lot of the time; tech bloke is a wally; only get one email address

Uk Stamp only offer one email address to users and if you are not totally into setting up accounts I guess it could be a little confusing as you have to set up the account manually through your ... ...first all was good, I connected first time, every time with connection speeds always in excess of 40000 bps. I was aware that the company had a two-hour cut-off period so that didn't worry me as so many companies do these days. I finished the two week trial period and signed up as a full member, even going as far as to reccommend them to a friend as they are so reasonably priced at £8.99 per month.

Uk Stamp only offer one email address to users and if you are not totally into setting up accounts I guess it could be a little confusing as you have to set up the account manually through your email package and dial-up networking.
Well, at first all was good, I connected first time, every time with connection speeds always in excess of 40000 bps. I was aware that the company had a two-hour cut-off period so that didn't worry me as so many companies do these days. I finished the two week trial period and signed up as a full member, even going as far as to reccommend them to a friend as they are so reasonably priced at £8.99 per month.
A couple of months down the line though, the problems that I am experiencing with this company is increasing more or less daily. I often can't connect and get the error message: 'user name & password invalid'. This can prevent me from getting on line for an entire day and is very frustrating, especially as I have begun to build a website and quite often can't upload updates.
I sent an Email to the technical support and received a reply within a few days (certainly not very quickly) that I should phone a man on a phone number who would answer any technical questions I may have. So I phoned the chap and ended up having a row with him! Now, I'm not an argumentative person; if there's a row to be had, I'll generally avoid it at all costs, but this bloke was such a wally!!!
Firstly he told me that it was my anti-virus/firewall software causing the problem, I told him that my hubby had no anti-virus/firewall software on his computer and he was experiencing the same problem and he told me that I had no need for anti-virus software as preventing viruses was simple good housekeeping. Now whilst I agree that it's a bad idea to open an attachment unless you know who sent it. nobody is infallible and even the largest companies get viruses that can be sent to you. Secondly, he told me that it is impossible to get a virus through anything other than email, at this I disagreed. I informed him that I have recieved two trojans from sites and he dismissed me as not knowing what I was talking about.
Now I don't claim to know my stuff but I thought his 'I'm the techy....you know nothing' attitude was extremely rude and it doesn't matter what problems I have in the future, I shan't be phoning him again.
Anyway I've checked all my settings and I know they're all ok and the problem continues to worsen so I think I'll stick to my original opinion that cheaper is not better and I will be now looking for yet another ISP. Hubby fancies broadband but I don't want to pay that much just yet; by the way, the friend that I reccommended them to is now experiencing similar problems. I think it's another case of an ISP offering services at a great price and swiftly getting out of thier depth; I don't expect them to last too long because they seem to be becoming overstretched.
In conclusion, UK Stamp is a fair isp but not really very good if you need to use the internet an awful lot (which is the point of getting 24/7)!
Advantages: £6.99 a month, when they say 24/7 they mean 24/7, very good speeds Disadvantages: no newsgroup server
Yes the header is true, there are no cons to this ISP i have been using them for 3months litrally 24/7 i have not been offline more than 3mins since early Febuary. I signed up on the fact that i am not well off but wanted my new second phone line to be online downloading 24/7. I checked all the places i could think off and in every single one of them this place was top for price. So i decided to sign up.. now the offer stands at 6.99 a month if you ... ...but for a 15 quid deposit. otherwise you can pay every 3months at 8.99 a month. Now even that is exceptionaly cheep and this is why... Since i joined in Febuary i have never been hassled for being online all the time, not once after one week of being online 24/7 with btopenworld i was cut off!! So this ISP beats the bigger fish for tolerance. It also beats them hands down for speed. When i was with NTLworld i got 4-5K/s and with BTopenworld i got ...
