I purchased these earphones as an upgrade to the ones that came with my Creative Zen. The difference in sound quality was immediately obvious, the music was clearer and more well defined, even for mp3 standard. It also helps that, being in-ear, these earphones block out a tremendous amount of outside noise (I have had to adjust the phone volume to maximum at work much to the chagrin of my colleagues!). This has the side effect of allowing you to turn the volume down on the mp3 player and thus improve the battery life. My only gripe with these earphones is that they can be a bit fiddly to put in, but I think it is largely a case of finding which of the supplied ear pieces fit your ears best.
