... My mum and sister used "Crest", a nasty sweet tasting blue toothpaste (in my opinion - the taste that is, not the colour), while my dad, brother and I used "Ultrabrite", a nice tasting white toothpaste. I would not use anything else. There was a very difficult period in my life - I can't ... Read review

...from my memory. Anyway, Ultrabrite changed not only the packaging, but the toothpaste itself. I don't know what it was that they changed, and I held on to the old tubes for as long as possible, but something changed, and it wasn't good (at the time). I did get used to this new taste after about a year, but quite frankly I do not wish to go through that trauma again - ever. That is why this is so important to me.
While we're talking about the past, ... ...Made by Colgate-Palmolive, Ultrabrite was launched in 1968 as "the new extra-strength toothpaste for really white teeth." In the 1970s it was advertised with Farah Fawcett starring in the advert - you can find this on YouTube if you care to do a search. While Ultrabrite is made by Colgate, it has never been advertised specifically as a Colgate product, as it stands alone in its Ultrabrite glory. In fact it is very difficult to find any information ...

Advantages: Gerts your teeth White Disadvantages: A bit abrasive I find.
...own toothpaste in future.
Ultrabrite is a toothpaste that comes in a Blue tube. It is a White toothpaste and best suited for people that want really white teeth or have stains to shift.
However, it is extremely strong tasting and leaves your mouth with a very cold feeling.
It has a very strange texture. It is almost grainy on your teeth and you feel like there is a powdery texture left on your teeth when you first use it.
I think it is very high ... ...feeling in your mouth. What it does do is leave you with exceptionally white teeth. You actually feel like it has removed all the layers of daily grime from your teeth and they feel very smooth and clean.
The taste can be related to a very strong mint. Not your normal spearmint that puts me off brushing but a very VERY strong peppermint that leaves your tongue tingling. I like the taste but some people may find the sensation it leaves in your mouth ...

Advantages: Clean white teeth Disadvantages: doesn't protect against tartar
This toothpaste was recommended to me by my sister, as she has good taste (excuse the pun) I decided to give it a whirl. It is a great value and great tasting toothpaste. It is extremely minty so as long as you can cope with the strong taste it is perfect. It leaves your mouth actually feeling refreshed and you teeth actually do gleam. I would recommend this toothpaste to anyone who doesn't mind the strong mintyness, and would like fresh, clean, ...

Advantages: great for white teeth Disadvantages: does not offer all-round protection
I used to use Ultrabrite toothpaste all the time. I never bothered to check out other brands I was so happy with the stuff. Then I needed a tooth capped. The dentist when trying to match the colour of my teeth got his enamel swatch out and ran them past my teeth, selecting the 2nd whitest. He stopped and did a double-take. No, he must have made a mistake. He tried again. Same result. Shaking his head he put the swatch to the daylight and re-checked ... ...ceiling as if to say I achieved this result by clean living. A lie of course. I smoke and drink tea and coffee like it is going out of existence. I only stopped buying Ultrabrite when I got worried about the toothpaste not working to stop cavities or gum disease. ...

Advantages: Good at cleaning and freshening breath Disadvantages: Nasty, sickly taste
...- Colgate by comparison leaves you feeling almost like you've had one of those sticky jam doughnuts - not my idea of heaven in the morning...
In fact, there are only two things which I find more distasteful and it's these -
1 - There is a green, mint flavoured toothpaste (I'm pretty sure that it's another brand of Colgate) and when I use that one I have to be absolutely desperate because the taste of it makes me feel like throwing up - I actually retch...
2 - The red, white and blue banded paste, is it Ultrabrite? Whichever one it is makes me feel sickly as well.
I suppose that next to these two products from Hell, Colgate Original is not that bad after all, it's just that it suffers badly by comparison woth McL. It probably still is my second favourite, although it would take me a long, long time to get used to it again...

CTF comes in 2 sizes, 100ml and 50ml. I always buy the 100ml because it normally lasts me a good few weeks. CTF and his siblings come in long slender packs with great little flip top lids that really do make them easy to use. Back in 1984 CTF had terrible fashion sense and donned a new “pump action” container. Thankfully...
