I bought my Umax 320S to tide me over while I learned a bit about digital photography and waited for the prices of better cameras to come down. I enjoy using it, and have stopped using my film camera altogether - even though the resolution is much lower. At vga resolution, it only has 0.3 megapixels which is plenty for viewing on screen, but not really enough for printing. It takes about 50 pictures, or more if you go for lower resolution - but then they are quite poor.
It's dead easy to use - no controls other than a normal/macro switch - and it's surprisingly good indoors (no flash) with its f2.0 lens. The only snag is that it draws on the batteries when not in use, so they only last about a fortnight. I download after every session and take the batteries out - what a pity they didn't incorporate an on/off switch!
