Advantages: Plays Everything, Cheap Disadvantages: Cheap looking remote
...The Umax/Yamada DVX 6100 is one of the early Divx players to hit the market here in the UK. The first was the KISS range of Divx player, the 6100 has one major advantage over the Kiss player, it’s price. At a shade under £80 this player represents excellent value for money.
For a start it’s looks are more than adequate, the player is slim and has a smart silver finish. The remote looks cheap, but I use a universal remote so it wasn’t an issue for me. The player has an annoying animation of a spinning disc when playing a DVD which can be mildly distracting. But all in all it looks the part.
The DVD playing back is excellent, I’ve never known this player to refuse a DVD or even pause midway through a film. I’ve heard reports that this player is region 0 (it will play any region) I have not verified...

Advantages: Plays Everthing Disadvantages: Remote is a little clunky
...As far as standard DVD playback goes there is nothing exceptional about this player, everything you would expect a budget DVD player to do is done no better nor worse than any other player in this price range (and some below this price range). It may seem strange but plain old DVD playback is not the important thing about this player. Nor, strangely enough, is the fact that its multi-regional out of the box...so what makes the Umax/Yamada DVX6100 special? The DVX6100's ace up the sleeve is MPEG4 compatability...
If you have any Mpeg 4 movies (DivX, Xvid etc) then this little beauty will play them as well. Normally these files will only play on your PC (assuming you have the proper codecs installed). From an easy to navigate menu system you can select the file on the CD/DVD that you want to play, press enter and 'voila' there is your...

Advantages: MPEG 4! DVD Quality on a CD Disadvantages: Build Quality
...Good machine, i got a while ago, direct from germany before any hit the shops here.
Just for a note, always write DIVX files as UDF on the cd, otherwise the sound may not play. This is a good machine, good spec but had to come from germany. If you want a UK machine look for the yamada6100 by umax.
If you can find cheaper than £79 get this machine, other wise go with yamada.
Does exactly what it should, but not the best bulid. Divx files play at great quality, the sound is clear and they fit full screen or work with widescreen tv's. The front of the machine is the only down side, a little plasticy but it has lots of outputs and for what it does is quite good value for money....

I bought one of these just over 10 months ago & have used it most weeks since. I must confess that I fell for the pull down diffuser but have never had cases to use it.
