Advantages: Great professional finish Disadvantages: Smell when applying
Ok I have to admit it - I have a problem, not too embarrassing, just a little bit of dampness now and again….. in the bathroom. So to keep the house in tip top order, I needed to reseal the tiles around the bath.

This is a great product, it is also mould resistant, pretty useful for an area that gets a lot of water!! Although I used for the bath/shower, it can be used on worktops, basins and such like. It also has a 35 year guarantee!!
The colour I got was brilliant white. I haven't seen any other colours.

Uni Bond high performance shower and bath sealant is just that, a waterproof sealant for the bath!! It is used to seal the joint between the tiles and the bath, to prevent water running down and ruining the plaster/ceiling of the room below, which in my case is the kitchen. This is a great product, it is also mould resistant, pretty useful for an area that gets a lot of water!! Although I used for the bath/shower, it can be used on worktops, basins and such like. This comes in either a standard cartridge, or an "easy to use canister pack" The pack I bought was similar to a cartridge that is put into a "gun", but this one doesn't need the gun, you control the amount of sealant flow by pressing the nozzle against the surface you want to seal.
The tube it comes in is about 270mm tall, with a clear plastic cap on the top. The actual tube is silver in colour, with a picture of a showerhead.
On the front it has the words "Unibond High performance shower and bath sealant"
On the rear of the tube is lots of useful information about how to use this product. It does say that it should not be used in permanently wet areas.
The tube holds 275 ml of sealant, I found that it was more than enough to do two sinks, a bath and a couple of areas where window frames and tiles adjoin.
According to the wording on the tube, if you use a 6mm bead of sealant, it will give you a coverage of about 10m.
It does say that any used sealant in the tube will last for about 3 months.
*** How do you use it? ***
As with all DIY type jobs, prepare everything well in advance. Ensure you are wearing clothes that you don't mind getting this on, and protect any adjoining surfaces. Ensure that you have cleaned and dried the gap to be sealed, and that any loose material has been removed. When I ever seal around a bath, I always fill the bath with water, to give a bit of weight and to allow for movement.
**When using sealants, you should always ventilate the area well, and this one is no exception, as one of the curing elements is acetic acid, which gives off a very strong vinegar smell, it is actually a quite strong unpleasant smell.**
So we have the area ready, lets put the sealant on then. The first thing is you need to determine the size of the bead of sealant you want, to do this, you just cut a 45 degree angle on the nozzle.
You then press the nozzle sideways against the surface you want to seal (I'm used to using the dispensing gun, and actually found this a bit of a challenge to get right.) Once you have mastered apply the bead of sealant, you need to smooth it off. The instructions say use a rounded spatula, I actually prefer to use my finger!! (this should be done within 5 minutes of applying the sealant, as it then starts to cure.)
Once you have finished, you should let the sealant cure completely. I left mine for 24 hours to make sure it was total cured.
*** Is it any good? ***
I did this job about 2 months ago, and I would say that the sealant hasn't discoloured at all. Also it hasn't lifted. The only problem now I need to re-grout the rest of the tiles now!!
*** Do's and Don'ts ***
As with all chemical based products, there are a number of things to be aware of. As I mentioned this product contains Acetic acid, so there is a strong smell. Wash your hands after using this, and before any meals. You should wash any splashes from your skin. You should also keep this product away from children and animals. Once you have finished with the tube, dispose of it responsible, it is after all a pressurised container!!
*** Where do you get it? ***
I actually bought mine in my local Homebase, you can find it in the tiling section. It costs around £7.99. Ok this may cost slightly more than most bath sealants, but I would definitely say this is a much better buy. It looks better, it certainly seems to last longer, I would say it has improved the look of the seal around my bath,

Thanks for reading this review. If you want a good quality sealant for the bath or sink, then this is a must. OK the smell is quite strong, but it only lasts while the sealant is curing.
Advantages: Easy to apply, fills all holes and cracks Disadvantages: The smell

~~~ Uses ~~~
UNIBOND bathroom and kitchen sealant can be used for :-
- Interior areas only
- Baths
- Toilets
- Worktops
- Sinks
- Tiled areas
- To fix sealing strips around windows and doors
You should not use this product outside or for skirting boards, dado rails or PVC windows.
~~~ Application ~~~
Before using this product you have to make sure that :-
- the area to be filled is clean and dry
- you are wearing gloves
... ...and wipe away any excess.
Unibond recommend using white spirit, but I just used a wide wood chisel to gently scrape away the excess which left a really clean result.
Once applied, you should leave the area alone for 24 hours to allow it to dry fully.
~~~ What I Liked About This Product ~~~
I use Unibond products, mainly because I trust the brand but also because they tend to do what they are made for.
And this product is no exception - it even ...
Advantages: Choice of bead width. Doesn't require dispensing gun. Widely available Disadvantages: Smells like the sarsons factory after a catastrophic leak!!!! Can't be used in permanently wet areas.
...The main reason we used Unibond is due to the fact that it is a well-known and trusted brand and is also widely available. We purchased ours at B&Q for £3.99 for a 90ml (90g) tube. The other big advantage is that as we do not have a traditional silicone gun, this product can be purchased in an aerosol can, as well as the traditional tube to go inside your gun. The product is available in various sizes including 275ml and 310ml for bigger jobs. We ... ...much standard issue for any unibond product. It has an attractive looking red cap, with a picture of a shower and the product name on the front. The reverse of the can has all the useful directions for use as well as some handy DIY tips for those who need them (like me!!!)
The use of this product is very straightforward. Simply pressing down the applicator sideways onto the surface you are sealing dispenses silicone. This surface should be completely ...
