So I bought the Uniross batteries nickel metal hydride battery charger from an internet site for £13.99 and with this charger I also got four AA rechargeable batteries free which was extremely great value.
When it arrived on my doorstep I initially had to charge the batteries for twelve hours.

The charger also has the ability to charge both nickel-cadmium and nickel metal hydride rechargeable batteries with a switch that is present on the charger, but you cannot charge both types at the same time.

With having a cordless mouse and a mp3 player and numerous remote controls I was spending an average of £3 plus a week on batteries that would last much longer than a couple of days in my appliances. So, I ultimately had to come to the decision that buying some rechargeable batteries and a battery charger would save me a lot of money in the long run.

When it arrived on my doorstep I initially had to charge the batteries for twelve hours.
The charger itself is a small grey box which plugs into your sockets for charging, it has the ability to charge either 4 AA batteries, 4 AAA batteries or 2 9 volt batteries which was brilliant as I used both AA and AAA batteries all the time.
The charger also has the ability to charge both nickel-cadmium and nickel metal hydride rechargeable batteries with a switch that is present on the charger, but you cannot charge both types at the same time.
Once the batteries have charged the red light that is present on the charger when you first put the batteries on to charge turns green, so you know that the batteries are fully charged which I also found was extremely useful.
The life of the batteries themselves once charged obviously depends on what appliance they are being used in and how often, for example when used in my mp3 player they would last for about 4 hours of continuous playback but for several weeks within the remote controls for the tv and radio and for my cordless mouse.
I would recommend buying some other batteries for the charger as you only get AA ones free and I also needed AAA ones and I found them for about £4 for four on ebay so I must have been lucky but check the internet out for cheaper prices rather than the shops.
Also, when charging the batteries themselves wait until all the power has been drained from the batteries before charging them as it can make the batteries less powerful and they will not last as long in your appliances.
Overall the durability of this charger and the batteries that you use with it are brilliant and end up saving you a lot of money in the long run, so if like me you are a battery abuser I would thoroughly recommend buying a battery charger and some rechargeable batteries as I will save you a lot of money in the long which you can ultimately buy some more gadgets with!

Review of Uniross - Battery charger - 14 hr - 4xAA/AAA, 2x9V - included batteries: 4 x AA type NiMH 1300 mAh
Advantages: Never Buy Batteries Again Disadvantages: ????????????????????
I go through batteries like no bodies business so when I saw this baby in my local Maplins going cheap (6 quid I think at the time) I decided that I must get it. That is about the cost of batteries for a week on my personal CD Player.
The Charger itself can take both AA, AAA and 9 volt PP3 batteries as I use all of these then this multi-functionality is a must. The charger can also charge either Ni-CD or NI-MH batteries with the flick of a switch ... ...difference but I don't care as long as the thing works it is ok in my book. Charging for the first charge it says 16 hours so I left them on for that time, once the batteries are charged the LED went green, and then I plugged them into my personal CD player and dumped a set into my digital camera. Fantastic...... after that an overnight charge is enough for most needs.
Ok the digital camera has hardly been used since then but it is a 40minute journey ...

Advantages: very compact, quick charging, easy to use Disadvantages: none yet
...the pack included:
An Uniross Photo Battery Charger
4 AA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries
This pack cost me £17.99 but as one pair of rechargeable batteries were in the region of £6-7, this to me seems quite reasonable (at last, SOMETHING I found to be a bargain!), but since doing some research on the net, I have found the same product to be slightly cheaper on certain websites.
The instructions with the pack were to allow the supplied batteries ... ...you will need to plan in case you need the batteries urgently.
The charger itself is silver in colour and measures approx 3 and ½ inches X 2 inches, being slightly rounded at the top. It is compact and easy enough to fit into a small space into the mains. The plug prongs are directly on the reverse of the charger so there are no wires to worry about tucking in, etc…
There is a switch in the middle of the charger to allow the user the option of ...

Advantages: Very fast charge times, turns off automatically. Disadvantages: None
...Ultra Fast Sprint charger by Uniross is the best. To start with it takes no longer than 2 hours to recharge batteries and alot of the time it does it in less. The other main advantage of this charger is that it stops charging automatically when they are fully charged so no more waiting around to turn it off and no more worries about damaging the batteries if you left the charger on by accident.
It costs £34.99 in Argos but I bought mine off eBay ... ...volts. Most uniross chargers are units that plug straight into the socket but this is a seperate box with an adapter which I find alot better as the old ones were too big for many of my sockets because the sockets were so near the ground.
The charger looks quite good and is a dark blue. I have found no problems with this and it saves me money as I mainly use the batteries for my digital camera which drains batteries so quickly but not these.
Overall ...

Advantages: Speed, reduce in cost of batterues Disadvantages: battery time gets shorter as used more
Everyone owns something which requires batteries. They always run out at awqward times and cost you a ton of money.
Then people look at rechargeables and if they dont look at the right ones, they loose out on battery time or could even cause damage to the product.
This uniros set is definately good value for mony. Looking around you can pay this much for a charger by itself and half as much for a good set of rechargeable batteries.
Ont he charger ... ...when the charge is complete. This can be easily seen and prevents confusion.
The chrage times it provides will depend upon the batteries use, however the ones included can be charged in about 3 hours.
The batteries themselves are high quality with a good battery time. They are intended for use on electrical items and usually power my digital camera for about 6 hours with the screen on before dying. They also run my wireless optical mouse for about ...

Uniross "Ultra Fast Charger"
This charger takes up to 4 AA or AAA (slightly smaller than AA) sized batteries; charging either two or four at a time. It is capable of charging 4 batteries, either Ni-Cd's or Ni-MH type, in around 2 hours and is supplied with a mains power and a 12v cigarette lighter adaptor. 4 AA Ni-MH 1300 mAH batteries are included with the charger, though its worth investing in some 1800 mAH or 2000 mAH ones for digital camera ... ...around the £25 mark, but you should be able to get it for less if you shop around. Good value for such a versatile device.
Its size (about the same as two packs of cards), weight (less than the batteries you put in it) and provision of a car charger makes it ideal to slip into a digital camera bag to recharge batteries on the move. The charger has two lights, one to indicate power and one to indicate charging. The charger automatically switches ...
