Uniross - Battery 4 x AA type NiMH 1500 mAh

For those not familiar with the abbreviation used here suffice to say without ( going into lots of electrical jargon ) that the higher the rating the more powerful the battery. Each battery will still only supply the 1.2Volts that it is designed to, but it will do so at a higher current level making it possible to power high consumption units for longer. So a 500mAh will do the same job as the 1300 ...
...operation will be drawing more power from the battery. I do hope that made some kind of sense to you.

The batteries were purchased for a package price of £6.49 for the 4 which isn't bad value when you consider that they are rechargeable for between 500 - 1000 times. In this technological age it seems that no matter what we purchase these days we will need batteries for it. There are many varying sizes and types of batteries, and it is really just a matter of choice which one's you prefer to use. It is though generally accepted that the better the quality the longer a battery will last, but alas I cannot verify this and in fact in my experience have not actually found that to be the case. Having said this I would not buy very cheap batteries since they in the long run are not economical, they do not last as long as medium to expensive one might do and there in many instances is no guarantee of safety since they are usually mass produce in a country where this is not a priority.

OK now we have established that there are varying quality types which is the best type to select for the purpose you require. If you use a lot of batteries the chances are that a good set of rechargeable one's is just the ticket for you. The most common batteries used in the appliances we most commonly use are AA, AAA, C, D, of which AA is the commonest. These are the ones used in most digital cameras, radio's, radio controlled toys and the like.

I needed some for my digital camera, since they are prone to use AA batteries up quite fast being that they need to power LCD screens, Motors for the Zoom and of course the normal operational usage of the camera. After much deliberation I opted for the Uniross NiMH 1300 mAh. The reason I mentioned the red ones is that these were the ones I had been using and as if to prove a point I have found that the new 1300 green ones do last longer. Unfortunately you obviously need a battery charger to recharge these batteries, but these can be readily picked up for a few pounds.

On the first charge it takes about 4-5 hours to fully charge the batteries which should be charged in pairs, most chargers will not allow you to charge them individually anyway. On the first use of the battery it is advisable to completely drain them before the next charge, thereafter charging can be done at any time. After about 5-6 charges the batteries will reach their maximum efficiency until then you may find that they drain quite quickly after this though you should see an increase in performance.

Experience has shown me that rechargeable batteries do not last as long as normal batteries, but since you can recharge at any time they are a definitely advantage. Most unit operate on 2 AA's therefore you can always have a spare set handy. If you find your unit uses more I think an investment in another pack of these is money well spent. When you add up the cost of purchasing normal batteries on a regular basis a n investment of £6.49 or even £12.98 isn't such a bad idea. I have had mine for a while now with no problems whatsoever, and usually have a set on charge for other usages around the house. It is easy to find your rechargeable's with their colour code so it is unlikely that they may be accidentally disposed off with the normal ones, and if you have a couple of sets there isn't really much need for normal ones at all.

All in all I found these to have been a really good buy and I would certainly recommend them without hestitation.
