Advantages: not to long and drawn out Disadvantages: none i loved it
one of his best, this book was fantastic..based on a small town and family... full of detail you will lose yourself in his words, well written and will leave you on the edge of your chair. a hard one to put down, if you like the style of shauns books, this one is a defo. most of his books do have a strong theme... but this on is a chilled out no need to think to much to enjoy it... great for the holidays. not to long, doesnt get boring half way through, every chapter is as good as the one before.
very highly recomended, i have read 90 percent of shaunhutsons books and i have to say this one was one of my favorites. ...
Advantages: Great book, couldn't put it down. Disadvantages: Sometimes a little harrowing.
I have had this book on my book shelf for about 5 years, and I finally got around to reading it recently. Manufacturer's product description
When investigative telejournalist Nick Pearson is sent to Darworth in Hertfordshire, he finds a community divided. A steady influx of foreign immigrants has led to racial tension and open hostility and violence. The African newcomers are particularly targeted, regular victims of vandalism and even fire-bombing. The Africans seem unwilling to fight back, until the arrival of a mysterious, powerful man who many of them know - and fear. Nick begins to wonder if there might be some kind of connection between this newcomer and the desecration of a local cemetery - an event followed by the disappearance of a number of corpses and a series of bizarre, ritualistic murders. In each case, the victims bear the same marks on their bodies. Scars that Nick has seen before, five years earlier in Africa. Ancient religion and modern prejudice are about to collide, and when they do, there may be no survivors. At least not human ones ...

Suddenly stops flowing towards the middle ; King can be slightly over obsequious towards the main character (*)
