Advantages Offers new spin on the game / no friends needed

Disadvantages Rare compared to original version

The is easily my favourite game after mahjong. It is basically a card game for at least 2 players & up to 10 players (but the more the merrier) where the objective is to lose all your cards. U take turns in a circle & discad cards from your hand if they are from the same suit as the one on the pile. There are also special cards:

- wild cards which can put down regardless of the suit & allow you to change the suit too
- draw cards - makes the next player have to pick up the designated amount of cards
- reverse cards which reverse the direction of the game, effectively making the next player 'miss a turn'

When someone only has one card they must shout "UNO" to let others know, otherwise when they go out it does not count.

The Sega Saturn version of the game offers a few new points.
(1) U can play against the computer when no one else is around
(2) U can play against the computer even with another friend since the game is more fun when there is more than 2 players.
(3) The characters u choose to represent u in the game certainly add some novelty in the form of their victory dances & cries of devastation when they have to pick up some cards! A highlight of the victory dances is the teacher who shakes her chest at the camera when she wins.
(4) The game is totally customisable with many options so u can personalise & import most of your normal preferences.
(5) Very colourful & animated, livening the game up.

Who can play it?

The game is really simple but addictive and children will easily pick it up. Even tho this is a jpanese game it is easy enought to follow since the rules are the same & the players speak in english.

Where can i buy it?

Sadly this game was only released in Japan and is very hard to get hold off. U can try the US auction sites such as Yahoo & Ebay.com and prices should be relatively low too.

If you really wanna play the game i can suggest u go to Woolworths & buy the original card version fro under £5.

Cheapskates

If u're a cheapskate or want to try it out before u buy. Or if like me u wanna play online when your friends are sleeping, go to http://zone.msn.com/uno/
