Review of University of the Highlands & Islands - UHI by
bonsi6337
Advantages: A brilliant place to live, friendly people
Disadvantages: Geographic location of some sites
...). The cost of living in Inverness is really average considering we have tescos, morrisons, the co-op and other smaller retailers. Yes its gets really cold in the winter but we do have sunny summers as well! Honest!! I know i am biased but I dont live in the area anymore but i would dearly love to go back as its a brilliant place to live.
The University itself is relatively young in terms of other universities in the UK. Its development was backed by the Millenium Commission and the European Regional Development Fund and incorporates 14 academic partners across the area which is about one fifth of the size of the united kingdom.

Learn more about wine
Review of Wine and Spirits Education Trust Certificate by
Mikew79
Advantages: Interesting
Disadvantages: None
...I have just completed the Wine and Spirits Education Trust Certificate course and can recommend it to anyone who would like to develop more of an understanding about wine. The exam involves answering 50 multiple choice questions and the Certificate leads on to a Higher Certificate course. Highly recommended, its great fun....

Review of American Studies - Liverpool by
pixiedon
Advantages: Interesting subjects, great tutors
Disadvantages: Limited choice in first year
...American Studies BA can be combined with:
Biology, Business, Cities, Drama, Early Years, Education, English, Environmental Studies, European Studies, Family Studies, Geography, Health, Health & Safety,
History, Identity Studies, Mathematics, Music, Psychology, Religion and Sociology.
I studied it combined with English but in the final year I decided to major in American Studies.
American Studies can also be studied for 4 years as a single honours subject.
Things you may study:
1. Culture:
- The transcendentalists. You are likely to touch upon Walt Whitman at least once, in particular by dipping into the Norton Anthology of American Literature.
- The beat movement, including Jack Kerouac, William S. Burroughs, and Jazz.
- The development & politicisation of rock music (Bob Dylan)
- Underground comix
- LSD & the hippies. One thing...
