Yes even I have at long last succumbed to piss taking. I was loathe to do it but I knew it would be a new experience that I would try only once in this lifetime.
Many of those that know me will be aware that I have been trying out many new therapies over the last few months as part of an Alternative Therapy course I am attending. At the beginning of the course it was made very clear we were expected try all therapies offered. If you refused you would be asked to leave the course. The day arrived when we all appeared with our containers of urine. We would only taste our own sample so I just wanted to get it over and done with.
♥The Tutor
My tutor for the day is a practitioner of holistic therapy. She drinks a glass of urine a day and claims her general health has benefited greatly by doing so. Gandhi drank his own urine for years so she felt this was a very good advert and would encourage us to emerge from our experience as converts.
♥Health Benefits
Drinking urine does seem to have many positive health benefits attached to it. The drinking of urine has been practised in ancient Rome, China, India, America, Germany and many more countries. The Journal of the American Medical Association states that in 'primitive medicine' there is scarcely a disease that has not been treated with the external or internal use of urine.
Many of the diseases known to have used urine therapy are very serious indeed, such as gonorrhoea, leprosy, Parkinson's disease and Cancer, whilst other illnesses would probably right themselves without any treatment at all, such as birth marks, insomnia, hangovers and morning sickness. Drinking just a few drops a day is thought to act as a preventive medicine. If you gargle with urine it is said to cure toothache or soothe sore throats.
♥External Uses
Well there are so many so I will just list a few for you.
A urine compress can be made if you are unable to rub your skin. Hair and scalp massage -this is said to leave the hair both soft and clean. It is even claimed to promote new hair growth. Use as an after-shave to leave the skin as soft as a baby's bottom. A footbath of urine is claimed to help with such problems cracked feet, athletes foot and ringworm. Conjunctivitis- use the urine diluted with water. As you can see the list goes on so you will have to investigate the claims made yourself if you are genuinely interested.
♥Warnings
Side effects can include sickness, headaches and dizziness if large amounts are taken. You are warned that if you suffer from long term or serious illnesses pain in the shoulder and fever may also occur.
You are also warned not to use when taking prescribed or recreational drugs but it is not always possible to stop using these so caution should be taken when embarking on urine therapy. Start by rubbing a little on your skin to see if any adverse reactions occur.
If your Urine is the colour of Cola or a reddish brown colour then make an appointment to see your doctor.
♥The collection
For women the easiest way to collect your sample is to use a wide topped container, as we cannot aim into containers like men. Make sure your container is squeaky clean and made of glass, copper or clay. The day before you intend to collect your sample you should try drinking plenty of fruit juices and water. It is best to try avoiding such foods as dairy products, meat, fish, peas, eggs, asparagus, beans, lentils, and peanuts to help cut down on the smell of your urine. Both salt and spices will make your urine smell and taste very strong. The thing you really should avoid totally is Asparagus, as this really will make your urine smell putrid. Eating beetroot will give a pale pink colour. You must take a mid stream specimen during your first pee of the morning.
To get a mid-stream sample you have to pee in three stages.
▪ Pass your first amount of urine straight into the toilet, as this will clear your urethra. ▪ Now position your chosen container and pass your second volume of urine into the container until you have the required amount. Move the container from its position. ▪ You can now continue to completely empty your bladder into the toilet.
You have now collected a midstream urine sample and this can now be transferred into your chosen container and sealed.
♥The pour
We were given plastic beakers that we could throw away once we had had our tasting session. Just pouring this original little beauty into the glass was an experience I thought I would never agree to. As I poured my urine quickly from its container, I noticed a slight froth had appeared on top. "Nice head from my very own home brewed sample" I said which drew a giggle from the rest of my group.
♥The look
I was amazed at the different shades of urine we had all produced. One lady had a very cloudy sample and after a dip had been used it was decided she had a urine infection and would not be able to drink it. She looked very relieved as you can imagine. My own glass looked as if I had a light ale poured ready to drink. Urine should be very clear and the colour will depend on how much fluid you have taken on board. The less you have drunk the darker the colour of the urine. My urine was a lovely golden colour and very clear as I drink gallons of fluids through the day.
♥The Smell
This was a very strange experience, as we had to smell each other's samples. Luckily by now I have got to know the other participants on the course very well. It is not an experience I would like to repeat though as a few really smelt strongly of ammonia. On further investigation the samples that smelt the strongest were due to spicy food having been consumed the night before. A meat eater produced the smelliest sample in our group. Hey you could even conduct your own experiment with your friends.
♥The Taste
This is the bit many of you will have skimmed straight to. I know what you are like Lol. We had the choice of having it straight or adding some cordial to it. Most of us were brave enough to decide to try both.
My advice is to pinch your nose tightly the first time you take a sip. I didn't and ending up retching like an idiot. It smells and tastes salty and bitter. Not just mildly salty but really salty. I don't like straight urine at all and wouldn't even try it again. Mmmm next cocktail is Urine and orange; that sounds a nice combination and should sweeten it up a little. Yuck it still smells and tastes salty and bitter
♥My thoughts
Whilst drinking your golden elixir may appeal to some, I will never ever take the wee wee again. To sum it all up it is a disgusting habit. I don't care if it does have health benefits it tastes nasty. As for washing in it you can forget that too. Yes it is cheap, well free actually. It is very portable and is available any time of the day. You can't get drunk on it so you wont overindulge. You can drink it hot or cold whatever your personal taste dictates. It is not toxic so you won't die from it.
Our urine is full of vitamins and minerals that have been expelled from our body, as it does not need them. So does putting them back into our system do any harm? No is the answer as such small quantities would show up that drinking them again will not cause a build up.
Well if drinking it is so good for you and advocates of drinking urine claim the elixir can cure nearly every disease, if that fact were true then why do people bother with doctors and hospitals. Are the doctors keeping this amazing treatment quiet so they are kept in employment? No I think not. Just remember the bladder was designed to hold a waste product. If I were isolated and without water then drinking my own urine would be the sensible thing to do but as a daily ritual NO THANK YOU.
♥Useless Facts During the roman times urine was used for tanning leather. In the 18th Century, cow urine to build up and maintain health. The ancient Egyptian Ebers Papyrus - has a total of fifty-five recipes for urine therapy.
As this was originally written on April 1st I will keep you guessing as to whether I really drunk it or not.

Advantages: Some people have a fetish for that kind of thing Disadvantages: Clinically useless, not very pleasant
Urine can solve all your problems! Just about anything can be cured if you cover yourself with/drink your own urine. Advocates claim that it can treat chronic and acute symptoms - from colds and flus to AIDS and bone fractures. Yep, just guzzle it up.
Urine is not toxic. But it doesn't do much. It's mostly water, remember. And just as homeopaths serve up water as medicine, urinologists serve up water and urea as medicine. Sure, there are some minerals ... ...drinking your own urine.
Urine only contains what has passed through your body and is no longer wanted. It is a waste product. Why is it a waste product? Generally, because you have enough of the contents of the urine. Bottling it up and drinking it just means you are drinking what you've already disposed of.
The fascination with one's own urine comes from a number of religious sources. There are a few lines from the Bible which could be claimed ...

Advantages: Very, very, very, very few... Disadvantages: Sends you ginger and fat
...night and it was this urine therapy business - like Sarah he trotted out the supposed benefits of the practice and maintained steadfastly that if he was to ingest the excretion he would suffer no ill effects. He got right up our noses, I can tell you and we started egging him on to prove it.
Eventually, a deal was struck - we bet him a fiver each that he couldn't drink a pint of his own water, which he maintained would be a piece of piss (quite ... ...just be a couple of drops, but this guy was asking for it...
Anyway, he went off to make himself throw up to clear his stomach (he said that was a necessary part of the process) and while he was away, we all took it in turns to add our own personal solution to his elegantly prepared potion. I say all, but I didn't participate, I actually felt sorry for him, not sorry enough to tell him what they'd done or to stop the ritual, but sorry nonetheless ...

Advantages: Bright assortment of shades Disadvantages: Smell,Staining.
I heard that colour therapy is a good stress buster so I try to use the colours of whatever is around to enhance my day. I have found this product very useful for filling up a white bowl I keep near my bath. The various shades of yellow on different occassions provide a different ambiance whilst bathing. There are two draw backs; one is the aroma which I am unable to stabalise at a pleasant level, the other is the staining of my beautiful white bowl ... ...that if you try this at home you use a similar bowl to me which has a built in water supply to assist in cleaning the bowl.
I think use of this product as an aid in colour therapy is as helpful as a white rabbit in a snow storm. Perhaps the drinking of it is more useful even if it was 1st April when it was first reviewed for that purpose. ...
