I work for Usborne books at home as a Usborne book organizer. It really is a great job with a 24% commision rate and loads of free books for yourself that there really is no cons!

At first i did think it was a bit too good to be true but have since found out that as a reputatable organisation Usborne make so much money from their books that they don't need to bully or press people sell their books if they change there mind.

What is Usborne?

Lets start with the beginning, what is usborne?

Usborne is a book organisation that sells children's and teenage books. For babies there are cloth books, bath books, touchy-feely books, lift-the-flap and hardback books. These lead on to children's sticker books, jigzaw books, key stage 1, 2 and 3 books, internet linked books, non fiction and fiction books. For teenagers there are also internet links, fiction and non fiction.

For the non-fiction books there are a varity of cookbooks, sewing, new language books such as German, French, Spanish, Itallian, Welsh, Irish, Chinese and English. Learning how to play new instraments such as the guitar, Art and craft books, things to make and do books, new sports skills such as football, horse riding, dancing. Please note, this is a really small selection of the non-fiction, there are many more.

In the fiction there are girly books such as:
Ballerina dreams in which there are 9 titles each book costs £6.99. Fame school have 9 titles for £3.99 each.
Summer camp have 6 title at £4.99 each.
A pony-mad princess have 11 titles which range from £3.99 to £4.99.
Totally Lucy have 6 titles ar £4.99.
Sandy lane Stables have 9 titles at £4.99.
The historical house which have 6 titles at £5.99 and there are other one off titles that range from £3.99 to £6.99.

For Boys there are:
The chronicles of prydain which have 5 title at £5.99 each.
The misadventures of danny cloke which are 2 titles at £4.99.
Thrillers at £4.99.
Oliver moon has 4 titles at £3.99.
Books by Tim Wynn-Jones at £4.99 and £5.99, and again many one off titles for £3.99- £6.99.

The book all come stating which key-stage there are for, so, if it says key-stage 2/3 it is for age 9+, but as an organizer you would get special access to the website which explains all the key stage ages.

The books are very good value for money and range from £1.99 to £16.99 depending on what the book is.

How does being a Usborne book organizer work?

To be a organizer initally you would have to pay £38 to get £100 worth of books, stationary and equipment you will need to sell books. These books are now yours and you can use them to show people what kind of book Usborne do.

The only requirement Usborne have is that you sell £100 worth of books within 6 months- this is really easy as I had a party, invited 6 people and sold £110 worth, for which I got £25 and 10% free books as i was the host. Once you have sol £100 worth it's up to you if you carry on selling or if you decide to keep your starter books and never sell any again.

To have a party I put my starter books on the table for people to look at and the leaflets with special offers that Usborne sent me out for people to have a look at. I was also sent a catalogue of all of the Usborne books and prices for people to look at.
When people decided to buy books, i took the order number of the book out of the catalogue and wrote it on the order form, collected all the order forms together went online to the usborne website and put in my own special code which had been sent to me and ordered the books. Everyone had paid when they ordered so the money was in the bank and the books came to me 3 days later and I delivered them to each person.

It really is so simple, and as Usborne do different offers of the month if people spend £20- everyone buying always buys loads of books to get the special offers.

For instance the special offers this month are:
Get 8 Library of Since books for £24.99 saving over 65%.
Buy all 12 Phonics reader books for £12.99, instead of £59.88!
Get the story of painting or First picture playground words half-price if you spend over £20.
The leaflets Usborne send also have other offers on.

Host a Party

If you host a party these are the benefits- This is what you would adverise to encorage others to have a party:
If £100 worth of books are sold the host gets 10% of free books, this goes up as sales increase.
If £100 worth of books are sold and 2 other people at the party say they want to host a party you get 20% of free books.
If £150 of sales are made the host can order £15 worht of books for £7.50.
The host and all who attend the party can get the offers that apply to some offers-such as spend £20, get certain books half price.

As an usborne organizer you can also sell books at palygroups, schools, libraries, nurseries, parties, parents evening, hospitals, surestart buildings or anywhere you want! For schools and libraries you have a different catalogue to give and different % off rates.

Is it worth it?

In a nutshell- Yes!

For more information look at the usborne books at home website:

www.usbornebooksathome.co.uk

or if you can go to my guestbook here on ciao and in the private section send me your email and I can email a form for you to send to usborne starting you want to join- or I can just answer any other questions you have.
Hope this helps and that I have put in enough information that covers everything.
