It was a 12-year old Jeep, so I did not expect anything great. I picked up on the screeching ignition and rear hatch that would not stay open by itself, which he explained as normal for a car that age. Then I asked him what the ratting was coming from under the car.
I was expecting an answer to explain it away, or even better a trust-engendering bit of honesty ... ...20 thousand miles or so". Oh no, was I in for a surprise!
He just said "if you want a new car, go buy a new car". He then walked off without another word. Clearly not interested further talk.
I could not believe a salesman would be so rude. What a complete waste of time. ... more

I was expecting an answer to explain it away, or even better a trust-engendering bit of honesty like "yeah, the exhaust will probably need replacing in another 20 thousand miles or so". Oh no, was I in for a surprise!
