Universal screen protector Duo Pack
Screen protectors are used to protect the sensitive touch screens of electronic devices devices from dust and abrasions. Uunique is a British company based in London, that produces fashionable mobile accessories such as mobile cases and screen protectors.
The Universal Screen Protector Duo Pack is suitable for mobile phones, digital cameras, iphones and MP3 players. I purchased it for around £ 5 from the Carphone Warehouse, to use it on the touchscreen of my smartphone. The luxurious duo pack has two different screen protectors and it also contains some additional products to make the installation easier.
The sticky plastic screen protectors are fitted on the desired screen and they can be easily removed without leaving any marks. They are self-adhesive, thick transparent films that come in a standard size and they must be trimmed to fit the screen before installation. The Universal Screen Protectors are packed in a flat black cardboard recyclable pack which contains:
- One self-adhesive universal clear screen protector (crystal clear). This is a super bright transparent film that is almost invisible after application.
- One self-adhesive universal protector with mirror effect.
- A soft screen wipe cloth to clean the screen before and after the installation of the protector. It is a thin and very soft cloth in light grey colour, with the brand logo at the bottom right corner. The dimensions of the wipe cloth are approximately 10x10 cm, and it can also be used for other surfaces such as the laptop screen.
- A plastic card used to squeeze the air between the screen and the protector for smooth finishing. The smoother is very cute, half black and half white and “use me… to remove bubbles…” is written on the front side.
- An instructions page on how to cut and install the protectors.
The screen protectors have a see-through red grid mask on one side to identify where to trim and to help in the correct installation. Both of the film surfaces are protected from dust and fingerprints by two additional plastic films that need to be removed before you place the protectors on the screen. The installation steps are also indicated clearly on small white stickers attached on the films (step 1 and step 2).

Instructions
Instructions on how to successfully install the screen protector, as indicated on the box:
- Clean your screen from dust with the screen cloth provided.
- Trim to prepare the universal protector to our devices screen size.
- Peel away the screen grid guide film and smooth on to your desired screen.
- Press and smooth the screen to remove any bubbles to achieve the best results.
Extra tips:
- You can mark where you want to cut it and follow the grid lines to ensure that you cut a straight line. An extra effort and precision is required for the rounded corners.
- You can use a standard pair of scissors to cut the plastic film. Make sure that you squeeze out all the air bubbles but do not apply a lot of pressure on the touch screen.
- Do not touch the sticky side when you place the protector. If you leave fingerprints or if the screen protector holds dust underneath, there is no way to clean it and leave the surface between the screen and the plastic protector clean.
My opinion
I have a cell phone with touchscreen and I recently bought this screen protector pack to keep it safe and scratch-free. I applied the clear film 2 months ago on my screen and I am satisfied with its durability so far.
When I opened the package, I was impressed about how well organised everything was. The instructions were clear and well explained and separate stickers with the steps were also on the screen protectors. The protectors were packed separately in a self-adhesive clear plastic bag and the wipe cloth was also in a plastic bag with the instructions card.
On installation, I found it a bit difficult to cut the protector in the exact screen dimensions without sticking it on the screen first. I carefully applied it on the screen and I noticed that some air was under the plastic film, near the edges of the screen and above the buttons so I had to readjust it and trim the edges again to fit the screen perfectly.
Therefore, I would suggest that if you are looking for a mobile screen protector that doesn't have a rectangular screen, it is better buy one for the specific model of your phone it there is one available. The cutting process needs lot of precision if the screen is not perfectly rectangular because the corners and the curved areas are not easy to fit. My phone has a curved part in the shape of the main button and the sides are slightly curved too, so it took me around 30 minutes to make the correct shape that fits on my screen.
My phone looks good with the screen protector, it is invisible on the screen and you can only notice it with a close look. It doesn’t affect the sensitivity of the touch screen and it’s easy to play games, the fingers slide on the film’s surface easily so I didn’t have any problems with texting and navigating the menu. Further, the brightness and clarity of the screen is not affected, yet the film is thick enough to protect my screen from scratching and from dirt.
Overall, I think that it’s a good screen protector of high quality and when you need to replace it is very easy to remove it without leaving the surface sticky.
