This review is for the VAX V040 Ultrixx Upright Vacuum Cleaner.

Setup
---------
Usually I would not put down the setup but this vacuum cleaner is a real pain to get together. You have to try and put all the items together with screws but the instructions are very poor so it results in you having to replace items and put the screws in again and it is basically trial and error at times.
The setup is the most awkward part about this vacuum cleaner without a doubt.

Design
------------
The vacuum is very smartly laid out. You have this nice red finish to the outside of the vacuum and all the main tubes and wires are all in black so they are easy to identify which is another nice little feature.

On the handle you have this grey section for you to have a grip with which isn’t too bad there is a slight part which seems pushed forward and it is quite easy to use and gain a fairly good grip with.
Along the sides of this vacuum are handles for the bigger vacuum connections so these help gain a grip on those and keep them in their place.

As you move further down the front of the vacuum you have this see through cylinder which is plastic and not too bad, but it can be difficult to see what you have inside with all the writing that is displayed on the front. As you move towards the back of the vacuum you have the power button which is to be pressed via your foot and this are white and quite a large button to press down. You have the mains connection which you wrap around the back and is right at the bottom in the centre.
The last button is the ability to move the handle up and down which is useful depending on a person’s overall height I find.

Features
----------------
This vacuum has a 2.4 litre capacity which is very good and it can store quite a large amount of dirt which you have collected and rather quickly. I find this feature good because the usual vacuums have the bags and you can never be too sure how much room the vacuum has inside the bag, so the bag less vacuums are definitely worth investing in.

The wattage for this vacuum is 1650 which is powerful and a great example of this power was when I deliberately put some items on this laminate flooring to see if it would suck them up and within seconds all of it was gone. The power in my view seems more powerful then 1650 as I have had a vacuum before which this power and it never once had the power that this vacuum has got.

This vacuum does have heap filter as well which is good because this helps remove 99% of the particles in the air which is extremely vital I find and it will help put your own mind at ease.
There is a power brush which is an additional part to attach to the machine and this is something you might use on the more stubborn areas such as hair which might seem stuck to a carpet and need that extra force to get it fully up, so this is useful for this.

Additional features it could do with
------------------------------------------------
Without a doubt this vacuum could do with a cable rewind feature because the cable can be very long and easy to trip up on and you have the task of wrapping it around the back over and over again and it gets slightly annoying after time. The cable rewind feature would save a lot of time and create a better overall image for the product.

A hard floor brush would be nice to have. I have seen lately that some more modern vacuums have these hard floor brushes which are getting more common because of the increase in laminate flooring and this would have been nice to have this attached to this vacuum cleaner as well in my view.

Good Points
------------------
I like the way the vacuum is able to suck up hair of pets within seconds. I have never once used the power brush because had no need to. I have a few pets and one of the rugs in my home is sort of covered by the hair they sometimes leave behind and sometimes it can seem a challenge to get up, however, if you use this vacuum within a few seconds the hairs have gone.
I have never had a vacuum which could do that, I have had a few which state they can but never once deliver so I find this a very good point to this vacuum cleaner without a doubt.

I think the way you have can just easily see what you have sucked up and fetch it out if it is something you need. I am a clumsy person and constantly dropping vital things like cash and pieces of paper with information on and it isn’t until I have used the vacuum cleaner that I come to realise what I have done. This vacuum lets you have the ability to take apart the cylinder and check inside and yet again this could be really valuable and save you have a bag which you would need to open.
I like how you can easy move the handle of this upright vacuum and make it easier to use for yourself and sometimes some vacuums are tough for either taller or shorter people but with the ability to move the overall upright down a position which suits you best then this vacuum becomes very user friendly.

Bad Points
---------------
The biggest problem is the overall sound this vacuum gives out because it is disgraceful. I have no idea the true extent of volume it produces but this vacuum is so loud you cannot hear other people talk, telephones ring or even extremely loud bangs at the door. It just seems to motor on without a single moment’s hesitation and this is the biggest issue for me. It needs to be more slight and I know vacuums make a noise but I have never had one this loud before.

I find at times the vacuum gets blocked up and it takes you ages to sort the problem out. You have to undo all the screws you put in to assemble the vacuum in the first place and try and solve the problem by pushing objects down to find the blockage. All this to me is too much effort and it should not keep blocking up every time you do a clean round. This is not good and is time consuming for people especially if they are in a rush.

The vacuum is extremely heavy to take with you and if you’re someone who has one vacuum upstairs and one downstairs, definitely keep this upstairs. It is an extremely long and hard tog to keep taking this up and down the stairs and all you will end up doing is injuring yourself and it is not worth it at all.

In the year I have had this vacuum I have had to have a friend sort out the wiring because the cable is so slack and easy to have ruined it seems a constant feature with me. When you are giving your home a good clean you need to extend the wire but it gets so slack the vacuum tends to roll over the top and cause some rips into the wire and make it open so you have to pay to have this sorted out.

Summary
-------------
I was fortunate to get this item for £10 on an auction channel and it was easy to begin with but within a few weeks the problems began with sound and blockages.
The vacuum is a pain to set up and pick up to move places, it does a job well which is the best part but with the constant blockages it has and the wire which is easily cut and ripped apart it does seem to have more negative than it does positive points towards the item.
Currently this vacuum is tough to find anywhere and is currently priced around £70 at Amazon and that is far too much in my view.
