VIA C3 800 MHz processor

...When you're evaluating this product please don't forget that it's probably only costing you £15/£20 pounds and it IS a budget processor. There is speed to be had in this processor but it's NOT 333 Mhz of speed. It's a cleverly multiplied low-end processor which has a very high effective speed. The best situation for this chip is where you could normally only fit a P166 Mhz chip. Older machines. Once excellent place for this chip is in network servers. Laugh all you will but .... You can pick-up a rack-mountable Compaq Proliant server which support 4 processors (P166) for about £250. Buy four of these and fit them and you've got an awesome little server for under £350. Add extra memory and a good HD system and you've got a VERY capabale multi-function server capable of sevicing over 1000 users on a LAN. I know this as I've done... Read review

...VIA Technologies Cyrix III This processor is designed for entry level pcs but has much more to offer than Intel’s Celerons but fails short of AMD Durons but it does offer more performance than people think with both MMX and 3Dnow as well as being the first processor to offer 0.13 micron beating the others to this crown and the fastest model is 833 but the prices are very cheap and for those who want a basic machine for internet then you wont go wrong but it does not offer the power needed for top notch games but for those who are on a budget get this and as it uses 370 processor slots it is also cheap to get motherboards to go with it and so a cheap pc can be built or even brought.... ...The Pentium 4c 3.0 ghz is running at 800 mhz front side bus which actually 200 mhz this because it is quad pumped. It has an L2 cache of 512k. The dfference between this cpu from the Pentium 4c is the new type of technology called Hyper Threading. The hyperthreading technology allows the cpu to work on different threads at the same time instead of waiting for the first thread to finished. The front side bus of the Pentium 4c is much faster than those AMD cpu’s, but the problem is that the DDR available today is only 400 mhz. To be able to solve this problem, When buying a motherboard choose a mobo with a dual channel capability to be able to double the data rate to 800 mhz. By increasing the bus speed the pentium 4 was able to improve the performance of its platforms, this is only possible because of the dual channel capability... Read review
