Ah another car review from me... Yes I know I have covered a few in recent years on here but this is due to a bit of bad luck with cars in the past couple of years. This was my first ever "brand new" car purchase in Autumn 2002, and 5 years 2 months down the line, I've had excellent reliability, with decent fuel economy. No major mechanical problems at all, which suits me fine, as my priority with any car is that it works smoothly and is reliable. It's really been a great car, with great distinctive exterior looks, and welcoming comfortable cabin (you have to love the blue dashboard lighting inside on the dials). When it came to looking for my first car it proved to be a difficult search! Very kindly, my parents were paying and whilst they had ideas about what they wanted for their daughter (safe, trustworthy, economical...) I also had ideas about what I would ideally like! First of all, a little background into my experience with the VW Golf 1.4 This is the third new Golf I have purchase, my first Golf was the Mk3 1.4e 5 door on an "M" registration, the second was a Mk3 1.4SE with full body kit just like the GTI but without the performance and that was on a "P" registration and the Golf that I have at present is a Mk4 1.4E five door on a "W" registration in Jazz Blue. My car is a 03 plate and I've owned this car now for two years - it has just over 36,000 miles on the clock. In that time it has never let me down. Its a Volkswgen and from such a brand you expect a quality product and this wont fail to disappoint. The interior of the car is made of quality materials and feels quality as well as looks quality. It is reasonably quiet when you are driving at speed which also gives a feel of quality. The dashboard lights up neon blue and is very pleasing to the eye.
