The Jetta for those of you are not familiar with it is a Golf with a boot. Up to the end of the back doors it is the same as a five door Golf, after that there is a huge boot where you would normally find the hatchback. This gives it some advantages over the Golf, you get a well built, strong, safe, reliable and nice to drive car exactly the same as the Golf, but it is much cheaper to buy secondhand, because 1) People thinks it looks ugly 2) It doesn't have as good an image as the Golf 3) People don't know it is all but identical to the Golf
Also you can carry 5 people and a large amount of luggage at the same time, unlike a Golf, because of the huge boot. Items can be locked away in the boot, and they are more secure than in a hatchback.
Disadvantages over the Golf are few. The main one is that certain objects won't fit in as well because you can't fold down the rear seats, hatchbacks are a bit more versatile in this respect. Then again my Jetta had a ski hatch in the rear seats which means that long items can be carried.
Perhaps the final say is that I bought a Jetta at the same time as my brother bought a Golf. Mine was slightly older, less than half the price, had a bigger engine, 1.8 vs 1.3, I had power steering and central locking, he didn't, and he borrowed the Jetta to go on holiday, because he could carry more luggage. I rest my case.

Hi Indeed the jetta is a great car smooth, unsophicated, and very cheap for a good one, great value for money.
