Volkswagen Polo 1.2

I have one of these as a company car, i moved from a Vauxhall Corsa and i must say this is light years better. Lets start of in the Cabin. First thing you notice as you sit down is the build quality, as with all German cars, its great. Everything is within easy reach, clear to read and easy to use. The seats are comfortable and when motoring along they hold you in place. During night time driving Volkswagen and its similar cars have developed this rather pleasing purple glow from all the instruments, this makes them just as easy to read during the night. The spec list is rather good on this model, there is an In-Dash CD player as well as a RDS radio, Air-con is also standard, electric windows and 3 cup holders. There are plenty of storage holes as well as a very useful 'shelf' type thing that runs all the way underneath the dashboard, ideal for glasses, gloves, maps etc. Space wise, you can easily travel with 4 adults and some luggage, but you probably wouldn’t want to do any cross continent journeys as it gets a little 'cosy' in the back of a 3 door. All in all a very pleasing cabin, plenty of room for a small 3 door hatchback and with the seats folded down can just as easily be used for the odd car boot sale or Ikea run on a Sunday afternoon. However, there are some shortfalls, when driving with the window open you do get considerable wind noise, which is a shame as I much more prefer open windows to Air con, also i have a slight dash vibration but I don’t know if this is a one of in just mine or a model wide problem. The outside is just as pleasing as the inside when it comes to looks, its compact and stylish especially in Metallic silver. The doors shut with a pleasing 'Thud' and you always know its a VW, the only downside out here is the very small alloy wheels, come on VW, how about some 15's or 16's to really make it look the part. The engine, although only a 1.2 and by no means a sporty one, will soon get you whizzing in and out of traffic and is absolutely brilliant when it comes to fuel economy, although it can sound a little 'screamy' when pushed much more beyond 4000rpm, the gear change though is somewhat outstanding, very positive and clear, i have not experienced suck a slick gear change since driving an £40k Audi.
Obviously as its a Volkswagen reliability is not an issue and the dealers are spot on, they know they are selling quality but as ever you are paying for it.
