My fiancee is very happy with the purchase and loves the car to bits. We had a couple of problems with it, resulting in days at the main dealers.

Here are the problems outlined.
The rear wash wiper has stoped working 4 times, the last time this happened, water had leaked on to the boot solinolid causing the boot not to lock via the central locking. Not a problem as you would expect to be able to manually lock the boot - YOUR WRONG! We couldn't do anything with the car until this was fixed and the main dealer could only get us in a week later.....
The front wipers stopped working, this only happened once and was rectified by the main dealers straight away (they even sorted us out with a rental car). This was over a year ago and we have not had any problems with the front wipers since.
Orange light on the dashboard appeared regarding gas emissions, upon visiting the main dealers and getting this reset it was advised to us that we should have been puting in 'Super Unleaded' rather than normal 'Unleaded' petrol, something we were not made aware of when we purchased it. For the last 6 months we have put in 'Super Unleaded' petrol and not experienced the same problem (apart from a dent in the wallet!).
Barr these problems, I think the car is a great drive, its nippy and a great run around. Its perfect to go to the shop in and also on long motorway journeys where it just seems to go and go (90+).
If you are considering buying one, please ensure the rear wiper is in good order! (and they have had no problems in the past) and also fill up with 'Super Unleaded' petrol!

UPDATE: Had a further problem with this car where the engine cuts out each time you put the clutch down! Had the car in the main dealer and they cleaned out the throttle body which seems to have done the trick. Please note that this was not covered under the warentee (wear and tear) and we had to shell out £65 for this to be done. The car has only covered 20k and VW say that is may happen again in the future.
