I recently acquired this car and I am going to tell all ciao members about it and how I think that this car rocks! And before you think that I have nicked it when I said "acquired" I actually mean that I swoped cars with my mum. So now she has got my fiat and I have her lovely polo!!!!
Well the basic details are that it is a S reg, Silver in colour and is a 1.4 and has 5 doors.
The first thing I changed about the car is it's stereo. I had brought for me, for my birthday a wicked car radio and cd player! The radio that was in there is good standard model. But no CD player. I think that if you buy a new one, it will some with a cd player. I also added some speakers to the back parcel shelf as there was only two in the front and I need more than two speakers to get better quality sounds!
It has onboard ABS, front driver and passenger air bags.
My general and overall opinion of this car is that it feels very safe and very smooth to drive in. It feels sturdy and well made. no squeaks!
I feel as if I could drive it all day it is that nice a feel to drive. The gear stick is quite small compared to what I am used to, but it's really smooth to change gear.
Although it is a 5 door, it is still a small ish car. It's great around town and still easy enough to park.
The dash is nicely laid out. It's black all the way through and easy to clean and look brand new with a spray of polish. There's all the usual buttons to press and it's easy to find where your lights are and how the wipers work.
On the dash there is a digital mile counter which is quite cool as I am used to the ones that has numbers on a roll. Also there is a clock and a screen that lights up a symbol when you need oil, water and petrol. It has electric windows which I am not used to! Also there is a sunroof which is a nice feature to have when the sun is shining. you can have the sun roof slightly open at an angle, have it open completely and see the sky or if you just want extra light you can simply slide the cover off it.
There is a lockable glove box which is really useful to lock away any valuables if you can't take them out with you. As you pull the glove box lid down there are two cup holders!
The chairs are very comfy and the ones in the front are adjustable. The steering wheel as it has power steering, is really light and nice to use. It is also adjustable in height which I though was a great feature. The outside mirrors are adjustable by pushing a little directional button to the right of the steering wheel and you can move either mirror without stretching over the passenger chair.
In front of the gear box is a little storage hole, perfect to place items such as your mobile phone or tissues.
As it is a 1.4 it is really nippy and is great on motorways. The fuel consumption is good and You can do around 300 miles on a full tank of petrol, but this depends on what kind of journey you're doing.
The 5 doors make this car very spacious and there is plenty of leg room for the back passengers and the boot is plenty big enough.
Overall I am in love with this car. I can't wait to get in it and drive anywhere!
Hatchback - Front (FWD) - 6 Speed Manual Gearbox, 6 Speed Manual, 6 Speed Automatic - 1598 cc - Max Speed: 119 mph - 115 bhp - Petrol - Available Trims: Sport, SE, S
Advantages: Surprisingly powerful engine for a 1.4, economical and of course its a VW promising reliability and good residuals. Disadvantages: Too easy to utilise engine's power and spoil economy!
