People Carriers: great for transporting kids but poor luggage space.
VW Sharan and Ford Galaxy have the same chassis and the same tyres!!So far have had the Sharan for 8 months and a few faults have emerged.
1.Purchased vehicle from VW dealer who had shipped it in from another branch with log book and service paperwork missing. They then took 6 months to arrive!2.Insist on seeing car on a sunny day, coz when wet the paintwork looks immaculate and can hide tell tale scratches and small dents. Also when test driving in the rain you are not likely to look under the car when get back to dealer. So, cracked glass in fog lights and missing key for locking wheel nuts can be missed. When you return to dealer to complain, you have to create a scene to get the faults fixed.
3.Front wheel drive, so check for wear and tear on front tyre tread, especially in the middle of the tread pattern. Dealers do not tell you that VW and Ford insist on reinforced Dunlop Sport tyres on their vehicles. Dunlop specifically make these tyres for people carriers ( ie: Dunlop Sport 2000E 215/55R16 95H )and they cost £180 each from Kwik Fit & Budget.

Very interesting. Dealers really should make it clear that the manufacturers recommend Dunlop Sports. People probably wouldn't buy them because of the price but at least they would have been told. I like the Sharan, it's not as egg-shaped as some of the people carriers.
