Advantages Advantages Quick,, nippy, comfy, cheap to run, spacious, good value for money!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Seven seater is cramped, hand brake is hard to reach in certain driving positions.

There's alot on the market when it comes down to this style of car. Three kids and two adults usually means that an estate car just isn't enough, when you've got to cart about prams, shopping and anything else you may need to take on your journeys. As a driver the last thing you want is noise coming from the back seats as kids practice dsimemberment on each other whilst you're trying to listen to Jonathon Ross on Radio 2 flirting with Girls Aloud. Volkswagen, like anything German are built superbly, and when it comes down to build quality they outshine their rivals, Ford, Vauxhall, Citroen ... more

    Advantages Advantages Solid

Disadvantages Disadvantages Small boot when using 7 seats

I bought a brand new Touran in November 2007. I liked the new model better beause of the shape of the lights. This is a very solid and comfortable car. It is easy to get in and out of including with children. I think it is Economical to run I get about 450 miles around town on a full tank of diesel. It has 6 gears for longer steady driving. The seats are easy to put up and down turning it from a 5 seater to 7. There is plenty of storage space within the car. When being used as a 5 seater there is ample room in the boot, however using it as a 7 seater leaves a very small amount of boot space ... more

Advantages Advantages Very Quick and fast diesel, long service intervals

Disadvantages Disadvantages 7 Seater has no spare wheel! Beware!

As a whole this car is exceptional, It's well built, reliable, and not bad to look at. The 2.0 TDi goes like a bat out of hell, It has a 5 Star NCAP rating and isofix in the back seats for the baby seats. In my experience however, the 7 seater can prove to be a nightmare. although the extra seats can be very useful, so would a spare wheel. instead you have a mini compressor and a bottle of goo which you squeeze into the tyre. Of course if you have a blow out, slash to the tyre or get 2 punctures you are stranded, all you can hope for is a member of the recovery services towing you to the ... more

Advantages Advantages Great family car, efficient, reliable, safe, comfortable

    Disadvantages Disadvantages ugly beyond description

We have owned three Tourans over the past five years and keep coming back to them because they are excellent cars...good build quality, good feel, loads of space, and in the later models, good handling. However, they are ugly, they are boring to look at, and they make you feel old. But, that should not dissuade you...they are safe, reliable, quick, and PERFECT for a family and they hold their value... We've never had a mechanical problem with any of them (unlike some of the cars from the VW group) and the service from the VW garage has always been good. If I didn't have a family with more kit ... more

Advantages Advantages Economical, Roomy, Refined Drive

    Disadvantages Disadvantages bland interior

Bought this 2nd hand from VW Dealership - have found it to be a very good car. I have a 6 speed gearbox and the engine is more than powerful to overtake when necessary. The rear seat configuartion is excellent as all 3 seats are independent of each other and therefore you can remove them if you want, fold them down, slide them back and forth, and recline them as well. The load space is sufficent with the seats up to allow for a week shopping and the pushchair, but if you remove/fold the rear seats this then turns into a very roomy van and comes in very handy for moving furniture and other ... more
