Bad carpet roller bearing
Advantages: good suction when new Disadvantages: Poor design, bearings liable to sieze
Replacement for 15 year old Hoover which was still working but had run out of steam.
Quite impressed at first but seemed to be prone to jam when picking up long fibres. Went through about 4 belts in 15 months ( had similar problems with other uprights. I liked the ease of use and it seemed to retain suction quite well even when the dust container was 3/4 full.
Cleaned rollers on every occasion BUT just jammed again after 15 months and probably ...

Poor performer
Advantages: Pretty Disadvantages: Doesn't do what it is supposed to - ie clean
This is the worst cleaner I have ever owned. At first it was pulling the carpet off the floor and picking up all kinds of muckand I was staggered. My delight lasted a week. The filter constantly clogs with human and pet hair matted in spiral around it and I spend hours brushing the filter or pulling debris from it - hardly hygenic and rather negates the point of having the thing in the first place as I end up with filth everywhere including in my ...

No cords - FANTASTIC!!
Advantages: Ease of use and convenience Disadvantages: That they don't do buy one get one free!
I love this hoover and what it does. It's so convenient when you have light crumbs/dust/or even spilt kitty litter! perfect for carpets or rugs. the fact that you don't have to bother with pulling out the bulky vaccum and plugging it in just does it for me. the detatched part which can turn into a mini vac much like a car vaccum is very handy for getting in those corners even though the hoover as a whole does corners very well. Putting the hoover ... ...load of fiddling. The turbo function is a must and I don't bother with any other setting even on flat surfaces. Unclipping the attachment from the main frame is easy and emptying it for the first time will need some manual opening of the 'door', after that it opens easily with a press of the trigger. Around the internal filter dust collects and sometimes doesn't come out as well as you'd expect so giving it a little shake over the bin or pulling ...

Solid battery vacuum cleaner with impressive performance
Advantages: well made, reliable, quite powerful, cheap, works well Disadvantages: maybe a touch heavy for some
ProAction 12V HR878A Pets Handheld Cleaner
I cribbed the product title from a seller and have just realised it’s a bit misleading. In case you’re in any doubt, this vacuum cleaner is made for humans - my cat didn’t have a clue!
First impressions are of a nicely finished, extremely solid bit of kit. Panel fit is good and the on/off switch and debris container release latch feel encouragingly solid too.
Like most battery powered vacuum cleaners, ... ...drop through the filter. The Proaction is no exception; it has just the main filter to trap debris and prevent solids entering the motor. That said, it must work pretty well because there’s no telltale dust coating the plastic motor housing downstream of this filter. When the time comes, the synthetic cloth filter is easy to brush clean and can even be washed, carefully.
Our vacuum cleaner has given good service for about two years now, unlike other ...

Get it before Kim and Aggie get you!
Advantages: good for pet hairs, ball mechanism Disadvantages: ugly, loud, no auto-recoil
...got herself one of these Dyson DC24 Ball cleaners, and when I visited, I saw a marked improvement. The house smelled a lot fresher - she'd loosened an awful lot of crap out of the carpets with the cleaner and on close inspection, I could find almost no hairs of any description! She was really pleased with herself for finally getting a Dyson, but there was a major drawback - the size.
Its a very compact cleaner, less than 5kg in weight. This makes ... ...to keep clean, so the Dyson does me for about a week before it needs to be emptied. I love it. The ball mechanism makes it very easy to get around and underneath furniture and units, and the main brush but seems to get all dirt right to the edge of the wall, minimising the need for messing about with attachments. Speaking of these, they are all helpfully stowed away on the main body of the cleaner, which makes you less likely to lose them, and easily ...
