Get it before Kim and Aggie get you!
Advantages: good for pet hairs, ball mechanism Disadvantages: ugly, loud, no auto-recoil
...got herself one of these Dyson DC24 Ball cleaners, and when I visited, I saw a marked improvement. The house smelled a lot fresher - she'd loosened an awful lot of crap out of the carpets with the cleaner and on close inspection, I could find almost no hairs of any description! She was really pleased with herself for finally getting a Dyson, but there was a major drawback - the size.
Its a very compact cleaner, less than 5kg in weight. This makes ... ...to keep clean, so the Dyson does me for about a week before it needs to be emptied. I love it. The ball mechanism makes it very easy to get around and underneath furniture and units, and the main brush but seems to get all dirt right to the edge of the wall, minimising the need for messing about with attachments. Speaking of these, they are all helpfully stowed away on the main body of the cleaner, which makes you less likely to lose them, and easily ...

Great compact hoover, excellent suction
Advantages: Easy to store, great suction Disadvantages: none
When my last Dyson Hoover died on me after 15 years as it has lasted so well I felt that it had to be a Dyson again. They are definitely worth the expense. I chose the Dyson DC23 because we wanted something more compact than the upright Dyson that we had previously. This model is very compact and the hose and wand winds around the base very well and easily. The power cable pulls out of the base and automatically rewinds on the press of a button. ... ...seem to do. The Dyson Hoover sucks up alot of stuff that other Hoovers leave behind. Once you have used a dyson, you will never use anything else. A Dyson Hoover is a good investment. Even though it is expensive, it pays for itself over and over as it last a lot longer than other Hoovers and requires no bags or replacement filters. The filter on this Dyson needs washing occasionally. In the instructions it recommends every 3 months. ...

Miele S5281: Don't make a Miele of the housework
Advantages: Specialist cleaning, well made and reliable Disadvantages: None
...credit card) my beautiful new Miele vacuum having heard rave reviews about them from friends. I checked the which guide and other review sites and found that they were rated very highly which confirmed my choice of make and that just left the model to choose. I decided on the S5281 as it seemed a good, powerful, all-rounder. Then came the hunt to find the best price or deal, having not spent any money for while since having a baby I thought that ... ...a bit suspicious so emailed Miele customer services to query whether there was a difference. They replied extremely quickly to say that the Argos model would just come with the standard floorhead and not the turbo brush and parquet floorhead - well, I'm not spending nearly £200 for a vacuum and not getting a turbo brush! I reluctantly went with Co-op to buy the vacuum as I have a members card and whilst its not specific about what reward you get ...

Fantastic
Advantages: Style Disadvantages: Nothing
Vacuuming is a secret hobby of mine. There's just something about it that I find fascinating. My wife usually complains, but I can't get enough of pushing that big piece of equipment around. So when I saw the DC18 All Floors SLIM with integrated tools, a 1.7 litre dust capacity, and a plastic telescopic tube, I found it very difficult to contain my excitement.
My wife wasn't really fussed, but after I begged and begged, we sold our Ford KA and took ...

Great for flat carpets, not great on hard floor
Advantages: Totally automatic adjustment and fault shutdown, quiet Disadvantages: Slow adjustment when changing floor type, short hose supplied, few tools.
I liked the built in tools and 'ever-ready' hose and, having had my fill of burnt out Dyson drive belts and continued need of powerful brushes the 'permanent drive belt' aspect appealed to me alongside the automatic height adjustment. The slow response of the automatic height adjuster began to cause problems when switching between flooring types because although the suction is good (not incredible) the brush flicks bits of dirt around hard floors- ... ...old house with slightly uneven floors. The bags are big, really easy and clean to change and easily found in all of our local shops. The only problem i found is that the tools supplied seem to be orientated for stair use but the hose supplied only reaches halfway up the first flight. ...
