Dirt Useless! Noisy, engine cuts out, bad suction
Review of Dirt Devil DDCYL5 by isisme

Advantages: Looks like it Works!
Disadvantages: Doesn't Work!

Dirt Useless! I bought the DDCYL5 on 9/12/2007, I returned it to the shop 2 days later, dead & v.disappointed. Not easy to use because of the filters , & brushes becoming blocked in the 1st hrs of use. I bought it for a friend, I have a Henry, myself for over 8 yrs & although it hadn't broken down, I thought I'd buy something different, that appeared to have more power. Surprisingly this model doesn't come close to the cleaning power of a Henry, ...
...to Henry's 1200w & DDCYL's 340 air watts vs Henry's 240 air watts, the suction just stops intermittently due to filter problems, the turbo tool stopped turboing. The extremely noisy engine, overheated, & stopped every 2 hrs of use so I had to wait 2-3hrs to do the next 2 rooms. The only positive I can say was it looked like nice. I bought a new henry instead its much more reliable & everyone I know has had theirs for over 8 years. £69 for something ... Read review

Red Devil Cleaner
Review of Dirt Devil DDCYL2 Bagless Cylinder by suehome

Advantages: Cost and efficiency
Disadvantages: A little lumbering, filters a pain to clean

...most frustrating. Whilst a dirt trap and a filter may seem appealing (and even spare filters are supplied with the cleaner), the removal and clean up of same is a work up in itself. The pictures show just rinsing said filter under the tap. In your dreams.......much more vigorous sloshing and water everywhere is the truth. This needs to considered against the cost and convenience of just throwing away a paper sac. Otherwise the cleaner is well made, ... Read review

Dirt Devil DD150SL
Review of Dirt devil by suehome

Advantages: Small portable vacuum ideal for samll spaces and tight stowage
Disadvantages: Fiddle to fit flexible long reach hose

Advantages: Compact, powerful and effective Simple to use and easy to stow, we keep one of these handy little gadgets on the boat. Where electric power is available its so much easier than the traditional dustpan and brush. The brush head rotates as it sucks, driven by a rubber band. It seems primitive but is very effective, even able to draw dust from fairly deep pile carpet and soft furnishings. The black cover on the front is removable to access ...
...fit a flexible suction hose for long reach and crevices etc. We never bother with this, its simply not worth the palaver! The dust trap bag fits simply onto the back of the motor with a rubber collar and is very easy to fit and remove. It also has the advantage of collapsing down to filled capacity which is very useful for stowing in tight or awkward places. Emptying is simplicity itself. You merely remove the dustbag, turn it inside out and shake. ... Read review

Doesn't quite sweep me off my feet.
Review of Electrolux Z 4703 AZ by Gary25

Advantages: Reasonably priced.
Disadvantages: Heavy and cumbersome, pick up not wonderful.

We have two cats, the little darlings, and around 12 months ago, when our previous cleaner finally gave up the ghost, this machine with the words 'pet lover' caught my eye in Tesco for £59.99. They had a model on display and it looked aesthetically pleasing in white and blue so I picked up a box. Said box was surprisingly small so I had a suspicion that the vacuum was self assembly. When I got home and unpacked it, my fears were well founded. Neatly ...
...were, 2 long screws and 5 short screws, A base (the piece in contact with the floor), A dust cup with lid and filter, A long handle, A tool caddy, A rear housing, A hose retainer, A bendy hose, A wand (not magic), A crevice tool, A stair brush, A dusting brush. For older members, it is more fun to read the above as if they were passing by on the conveyor belt on The Generation Game. Sorry, I digress. Let me say at this point, if you ... Read review

...is full. Bags available from electrolux website. The automatic cable rewind is very good (lazy!!). The suction on this cleaner is out of this world - excellent !! I love this cleaner - i have used it in the car aswell as all around my home + its been great. You don't have to put that much effort in to cleaning - this does it for you. It has an option for hardfloors (eg vinyl) and also carpets. ... Read review
