Well when I bought this one we had two dogs, one longhaired. When used at first it was fantastic and I thought 'Great' I've found one that does what it says on the tin!. However a few months down the line it worked properly less and less, missing hairs, soon getting bunged up etc. Even when taken apart and cleaned properly with new filters I never got that 'first' good feeling. Following Vax instructions for under warranty repairs I brought my machine to their local repair centre where it has been sitting for 10 days without nobody repairing it or updating me until I have complained with Vax service manager who only then informed me that there were no spare motors available for the repair. Disadvantages: a bit awkward to steer until you get used to it

I've never had a Dyson before but so many friends have said they were good so I decided to invest! It's easy to use and has great suction - I can't believe how much more dirt it picks up compared to my old vacuum cleaner. So easy to empty as well, just hold over a bin, press a button and the bottom opens and all the dirt tips out! Can be a bit dusty though! But much less messy that my old "bag" cleaner.
