A handy hand held Vax Advantages: Easy to use, a handy little cleaning item Disadvantages: None VAX V-031 LIBRETTO HAND HELD VACUUM CLEANER This little appliance is one of my best buys from Netto. Netto isn’t a shop that I go in very often, but when I do I always take a look at their electrical goods that they sell from time to time, they often have some good bargains. Last year I spotted just the thing that I had been looking for, a good hand held vacuum cleaner. My son and my grandchildren can’t eat a packet of crisps or biscuits ... ...purchased from Netto was the Vax Libretto. I managed to purchase it for £19.99, which seemed a good price for something of that standard. The machine came in a blue and white box with a picture of the cleaner on.the front. In the box with the cleaner you also get a dusting brush, a crevice tool, a battery charger and stand. With a LED display that shows how much battery life it has left. To scrub or not ! ! ! Advantages: simply easy to use Disadvantages: LIMITED purpose This is a light and compact unit. Not very good at large areas, as the fresh water and solution dispenser contains only a very small amount of liquid. Obviously this unit is designed for spills. Not for any major clean ups. Waste collection water capacity much greater than the clean dispenser, so able to pick up anything that has been left after a spill, such as wine, etc. The unit has a simple to use knob on the side to change the operation from ... ...to suction for picking up dirty water. The brushes can be easily slowed if pressure is applied to the unit, for brush/scrubbed use, no more than the weight of the unit itself is suitable, trying to add pressure to get the scrubber action to scrub better just makes the unit struggle, and sound labouring in motor noise. Vax Kone Advantages: Easy to operate Disadvantages: No oomph to get the job done ...home. I came across the Vax Kone which looks fantastic - it really complements my minimalist style & looks great stood in my hallway. I thought that if I bought a handheld vac that could be left on display, then I would be more likely to use it! But, alas no, it still doesn't get used much....unfortunately the power is very low. The vacuum lasts for all of 30 seconds before dying (& this is fully charged!). I find it difficult to pick up larger crumbs ... ...so. On the plus side, it is easy to pop back in the charger & is easy to empty (& can hold a fair bit of dust & dirt). There is a light in the base which can be turned on/off independantly, which is good because at least it has some use! Overall, if you're looking for a stylish alternative to the typical handheld vacuum, & are only wanting to pick up small amounts of dirt then this is perhaps worth looking at. Vax handheld V-032 Advantages: Inexpensive and works well, once repaired Disadvantages: Filter seal poorly designed ...Its a real shame. Vax replaced mine [excellent customer service!] but sent annother with the same fault. Tip! if you have this problem cut a thin strip of that bubbly 'non slip mat' and evo-stick it to the edge of the filter seal, then after 12 hours to dry really well rub talc round the seal and it will then fit snugly and your vax will work well. ... Suck-ered Advantages: strong sucking Disadvantages: multiple attachments that are problematic! I was advised to purchase this by a sales person in B&Q who informed me it was the better model on the market. In terms of cost comparision it was fairly evenly matched so we went for this model on his recommendation. - I will never trust a man again! Whilst this model may suit technically minded men who like things as complicated and as technical looking as possible - I'm afraid it doesn't suit me. Admittedly it does suck well. Very well. It is ... ...is heavy to use as a conventional hand held vac. Has a very strong suction and compares well to my dyson in terns of power. (though my dyson is a bit old and the filters are somewhat clogged) There are a variety of attachments that come with it, it sucks, blows and inflates (handy for our daughter's ball pool among other things). But it has one major deign flaw. The different attachments all attach differently.
