All in all I quite like the vacuum cleaner but it does have its draw backs. Firstly it has a selection of surfaces which depending on which one you are cleaning then depends on your selection.(eg. Laminate/Tiled, short pile carpet, medium pile carpet, and tools.) This selection is a small dial, which when turned either hightens or lowers the base of the hoover. This is very good and works well.
Always check before use that the dust bin contained ... ...I say this as when it gets too full then it overloads and the internal thermal trip switch activates which switches the appliance off. When this happens you must empty the contents and wait for a further 45 minutes before it has reset- a bit of a nuisance if you are in a hurry.
This can be prevented if emptied before you start!!

I got the Vax Mach 5 Pet about 2 weeks ago and was surprised at how much smaller it is than it looks from either the picture on the vax website or size of the box. It is not a small cleaner, but neither is it the large one I was expecting. It is fairly easy to assemble, but you do need a philips screwdriver for the 3 screws attaching the main unit to the base. The instructions were great, plenty of pictures and easy to understand, unlike some others ... ...Once asembled I found it to be fantastic at picking up all the dirt, especially the dirt I didn't even know was there. It also glides smoothly on my wood floors, easily picking up anything it finds. I did not find it as heavy as I expected from reading other reviews, but it is not light, so not great for carrying up lots of stairs. The cord rewind is great and the various attachments are good for getting into corners and around the back of things ...

The other day my hoover packed up whilst I was doing the stairs, being only half way down I had to run next door and borrow my neighbours hoover. This happened to be a Henry Cylinder Vacumn Cleaner HVR200, this little chappie has a cute face on the front and is a nice red colour. It is 1100 watts and has stainless steel tubes with black plastic flexipipes for easy cleaning. Doing the housework isn't one of my favorite things but it has to be done ... ...but having been rescued by the neigbours I thought I'd test this little Henry as my Moulinex Boss which had just packed up was great at getting into all the small places and the suction on it was brilliant. I did wonder if this little henry was good enough for the job. Henry was quite light to carry up the stairs, my little boss wasn't heavy either so in this respect there wasn't any difference.
