No, the Dyson Root 6 should truly be called a handheld vacuum cleaner. "Why?" I hear you ask... well let me tell you. Dyson, as anyone that hasn't been living under a rock for the last 10 years will know, shot to fame with their revolutionary "bagless" Hoover(tm). Only you can't call it a Hoover(tm) because that's a trademark too. Bagless technology meant that there was no loss of power as the poor vacuum motor had to suck air ... ...a fair few years before Dyson made the leap from "regular" vacuum cleaners to handheld ones. In fact, they only came on the market last year. I can only guess that it took them this long to perfect the design - or think up the marketing that would allow them to maintain their premium price-tag. Regardless of the cause of this delay, Dyson finally got a handheld to market in the form of the DC16 Root 6 in "Steel & Yellow". Looking more like a hand-gun ... Get it before Kim and Aggie get you! Advantages: good for pet hairs, ball mechanism Disadvantages: ugly, loud, no auto-recoil ...got herself one of these Dyson DC24 Ball cleaners, and when I visited, I saw a marked improvement. The house smelled a lot fresher - she'd loosened an awful lot of crap out of the carpets with the cleaner and on close inspection, I could find almost no hairs of any description! She was really pleased with herself for finally getting a Dyson, but there was a major drawback - the size. Its a very compact cleaner, less than 5kg in weight. This makes ... ...to keep clean, so the Dyson does me for about a week before it needs to be emptied. I love it. The ball mechanism makes it very easy to get around and underneath furniture and units, and the main brush but seems to get all dirt right to the edge of the wall, minimising the need for messing about with attachments. FANTASTIC Advantages: Easy to use and get around places Disadvantages: wouldnt say there were much but could br=e bit cheaper ...wasnt going to purchase the dyson due the price but it was recommended to me by a member of my family and im so glad they did, not like the other vacuums that let you down after a few weeks or get blocked 8-) well done Dyson. I'v had a few hoover's in last few years but this one has lasted the longest. its that good i bought my mother one and they still both work today!! Lightweight, compact and easy to move around Advantages: compact and lightweighgt Disadvantages: hose can be difficult to store ...opinion. extras are expensive dyson customer service in my experience has always been a+ they really stand by the product well. Container is small but can still hold a good amount so you dont have to empty after every hoover aswell. Dyson DC25 - If you've got pets it's brilliant Advantages: Manouvreable, easy to use. Disadvantages: Quite expensive I have a number of pets (almost too many to count) that leave hair all over the house and after my vacuum cleaner gave up the ghost i started looking for a new one. I was originally drawn to the DC25 because of the fact it will pick up animal hair. After using it for the first couple of times i noticed that it had far better sucking power (alright that probably isn't the technical term) than any other vacuum cleaner i have ever owned. My carpet has ... ...the attachments on board and they all have places to clip onto the vacuum which is a great thing for me as i usually put things down somewhere and completely forget where i put them. The amazing thing about it is that instead of having the typical standard four wheels it has a rolling ball mechanism which makes it so much more manouvreable and easier to access to spots you never could without moving the furniture with a normal vacuum cleaner.
