It is recommended that we drink 2.5 - 3 litres of fluids a day: to keep your body in good nick. Water is the top dog of drinks, say the urologists. However, I find that too much water is rather boring: as any fluid is better than none, I seek exciting and flavoursome fluids.
When Diet Vanilla Coke was first released, I was rather reluctant to try it. It sounded a rather odd combination of flavours: it didn't really appeal. One day, when Tesco appeared to be having a drought on the small bottles of coke: I was left with no other option - Diet Vanilla Coke it was.

Diet Vanilla Coke it is made by: 'The coca-cola' company; it is a carbonated soft drink (This means it's fizzy). The main flavours are vegetable extracts (it does not tell us which) and Vanilla.

Vanilla coke is available in diet or regular. The regular version is packed full of sugar and other bad things; it rots your teeth and makes you fat, if drunk in excess. The diet version is packed full of sweetener and other bad things, it rots your teeth but it doesn't make you fat.

Diet vanilla coke is available in many forms: cans - 50p, 500ml bottle - 77p, 2 litre bottles - £1.32. It is available in supermarkets, newsagents, petrol stations, as well as practically anywhere else you can think of that sell carbonated drinks.

The packaging varies, depending on which form you buy it in. However, they all share the colour scheme of silver, creamy yellow and red: all sporting the coca-cola logo. (See pictures).

Diet Vanilla Coke, contains no trace whatsoever of any nutritional value! It has 0.4kcals per 100ml and that is it.

When you first open your pop, a very pleasant smell of vanilla hits you. It is brown in colour. It tastes like a 'brown cow' (coke mixed with vanilla ice cream), but not quite as nice. More specifically, the fizzy mixed fruit flavour of diet coke, with a creamy vanilla flavour added.

Compared to regular vanilla coke, it is less sweet, less creamy and it doesn't seem quite as filling. In fact it is a very refreshing drink, effective at quenching thirst. Where as, the regular coke, makes me feel sick rather than refreshed. Therefore, Diet Vanilla Coke: is a lot more pleasant in every which way. Which is unusual. Out of all these new flavours of coke, the lemon, the lime etc, Diet Vanilla is my preferred choice.
As with most carbonated drinks, it is best served ice cold. Otherwise the fizz vanishes faster and the taste seems to be less prominent.

For some reason, the 500ml bottle loses its fizz quite rapidly, but it's more practical, than the can or the big bottle. You can't win them all!

There are cheaper versions of this; supermarkets own versions etc. They don't cut the biscuits; coca cola is the guru of carbonated drinks - in my opinion. I prefer to buy the large bottles, as it is far better value for money.

The problem with this drink: is that it tastes fine, counts towards your daily intake of fluid; but other than that, there is no goodness in it whatsoever, in fact; there is a whole lot of badness.

Caffeine, is an ingredient, this is a stimulant. It causes, high blood pressure, headaches, keeps you awake - just to name a few of its detrimental effects.
Phenylalnine acid, is also an ingredient, this can decompose in your body, into something called Diketopiperazine, which is a carcinogen (a cancer-causing substance or agent).
Research has shown, that carbonated drinks elevate acid levels in the stomach, sometimes causing acid reflux (the acid in your stomach, is thrown back into the food pipe). This means, excessive drinking of carbonated drinks over a long period of time: you are at risk of developing esophageal cancer.

Not wanting to scare you or anything! A grand piece of advice I once received 'everything in moderation'.

Overall, I recommend Diet Vanilla Coke. It is one of the nicest carbonated drinks retailed. It is refreshing and tastes good. As with a lot of foods, there are health risks taken, if you drink it in excess. I drink it in moderation and hope for the best. It is excellent for dieters, as it contains practically nothing that could put on weight. It is good for diabetics too. So - thumbs up!
