I am a very accident prone person. Im well known for spilling & dropping things (mostly curry & red wine) on peoples carpets. Not just other peoples, but there were some very visible Ribena & Irn Bru stains on my livingroom carpet. I am always cutting & hurting myself - Im signed off work at the moment with a fractured wrist! So when my boyfriend & I decided to replace the carpet in the livingroom with a beige/natural coloured carpet, we knew we'd have to find a carpet cleaner that actually worked!
So the week before the carpet was being put in, I was painting the livingroom and had a bit of an accident. I cut my foot on the horizontal blinds which were sitting on the floor. There was blood everywhere! It didn't matter in the livingroom as the new carpet was coming the next week, but I hopped through to the hall to call Mr Broon and there were big brown puddles of blood all over it! I was really worried that we would have to replace that carpet too. Its quite old, its one of these carpets that came with the flat when it was built so its very thin, but no way could we afford to replace that too. So I went to Asda & stood in front of the stain remover section saying "eeny, meeny, miney mo" because I didn't have a clue what was good. So I picked up a can of Vanish PowerShot and off I went.
It comes in a 400ml aerosol can, which is pink like all other Vanish products, with the Blue/White/Yellow Vanish logo & an image of a bit of carpet being 'shot'. It says it dissolves stains instantly & is an Unbeatable Carpet Stain Remover. So I gave it a shake & off I went. You really should read the label first on these products, but I don't think about these things! I sprayed it onto one of the small stains and it bubbled & fizzed and sunk it. I then read the label & followed the instructions of spraying, then giving it a rub with a damp cloth & the the stain disappeared! So I worked my way through all the stains, the bigger ones needed a few sprays but within 10 mins all that was left was a damp patch! So its easy - spray, bubble, fizz, rub, repeat until gone!
So you can imagine my relief when the new livingroom carpet arrived & it wasn't beige/ natural coloured but cream - polar bear fur coloured! So I was very careful not to spill anything until last week when I knocked over a whole glass of fresh orange juice! But again spray, bubble, fizz, rub, repeat until gone! It disappeared so quickly I was so relieved!
So what are the vital statistics? Its a 400ml can which costs around £4 from any Supermarket. One can has lasted me around 2 months but as I say Im very prone to spills & have a cream carpet so probably use it more than most people would. It has quite a strong chemically smell so if you have sensitive skin be careful but it didn't affect me in any way but I'm just being cautious. It is suitable for wool carpets.
You should also test first on a hidden piece of carpet to make sure it doesn't discolour it. I have also used it on jeans that had a mark on them & it worked fine on them but this probably isn't advised by Vanish.
No cleaning cupboard can be complete without a can of this miracle stuff! Totally recommended.
